The Waste Sector in HDR is experiencing significant growth throughout North America. An exciting career opportunity is now available to join our Solid Waste Market Sector team in Canada and support solid waste projects across North America. We have a need for an experienced solid waste engineer with landfill experience to support the wide range of projects that we are involved with. The candidate will be expected to assist with growing our market share and while also providing technical leadership within the sector. Primary Responsibilities The candidate must have a strong background in solid waste services pertaining to the waste market sector with a focus on landfill engineering. The position will involve working closely with HDR Resources and Waste Sector leadership to drive program development across North America. Provide HDR with consulting and project management abilities in the Waste Sector, managing both planning and engineering related projects and developing client relationships. You will report to the Canadian Solid Waste Market Sector Lead. You are expected to establish client relationships through networking, and be able to think strategically in future directions for both our clients and programs. You will be expected to travel to clients sites on a regular basis for project support work as well as any proposal visitations. You are expected to have excellent communication skills, especially in writing as well as giving presentations. Has extensive experience related to landfill and solid waste facilities engineering Possess and maintain a deep understanding of how clients perceive their technical problems and has the ability to package HDR expertise as solutions to these problems. Project Manager for waste related projects. Works with Canadian Solid Waste Market Sector team to develop business and marketing initiatives. Identifies and develop opportunities to expand services to clients. Provide local support for existing clients and projects, and maintain existing client relationships for continued business growth. Acts as client manager for select clients, actively developing relationships with the candidates previous contacts and HDRs existing clients. Assist with US projects and pursuits on a regular basis. Familiar with risk management activities for both contract reviews and project deliverables. Able to travel across North America as required. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 15 years working with regulatory and approval/permitting agencies, writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for complex waste projects. Experience with managing a team of people is an essential asset. Strong conceptual, organizational, analytical, problemsolving and research abilities. Ability to support multiple complex and timesensitive projects effectively. Identify and resolve issues effectively and efficiently. Recognize and understand bigpicture concepts while recognizing details that are important. Strong interpersonal skills. Able to work under and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated staff management and leadership skills supported by strong mentoring and coaching capabilities. Required Qualifications Bachelor''''s degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in remedial investigation, design and implementation of remedial actions, as well as some project management experience. Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (including Access, Excel, Word). Excellent communication skills are essential. Experience with soil and groundwater remedial technologies is preferred.
