Base pay range CA$190,000.00/yr - CA$220,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Reliance Impact Director of Preconstruction (Ground Improvements & Civil) ICI Projects About the Role The Director of Preconstruction leads pursuittoaward strategy for a ground improvements / civil contractor expanding (or scaling) in the ICI market. Youll turn drawings and concepts into executable scopesaligning estimating, constructability, logistics, and riskso the operations team starts with clarity, not assumptions. Key Responsibilities Own ICI pursuits from early budgeting through tender/GMP, ensuring disciplined scope capture and pricing. Lead estimates for ground improvement and civil packages (e.g., shoring support, dewatering, deep foundations support, earthworks, site servicing, remediation interface, logistics). Drive constructability reviews and means/method planning early, coordinating with operations, design teams, and trades. Build bid strategies: alternates, value options, sequencing recommendations, and procurement plans that improve certainty. Identify and manage riskgeotech variability, groundwater conditions, access constraints, environmental constraints, utility conflictswhile writing clear clarifications and assumptions. Develop subcontractor/vendor relationships and pricing intelligence; ensure bids reflect current market and production realities. Mentor estimators/precon staff, standardize templates, and tighten handoff packages to operations. What Success Looks Like Higher hit rate on the right ICI opportunities (profitable, executable, strategically aligned). Clean scope, fewer postaward surprises, and controlled change management. Stronger client confidence through clear assumptions, schedules, and risk positioning. Repeatable preconstruction process that scales with growth. What You Bring Demonstrated leadership in preconstruction/estimating for civil, ground improvements, or heavy civil scopes. Strong understanding of geotechnical conditions, site constraints, and how they impact production, cost, and schedule. Ability to communicate risk clearly to clients and internal stakeholders without slowing momentum. Commercial mindset: margin protection, bid discipline, and thoughtful pursuit selection.
