Job Description

Overview STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rails and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will extend TTCs Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres into Scarborough, from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, improving access to jobs, schools, and key destinations throughout the city. As part of this project, we are currently looking for an Environmental Inspector to join our team. What You Will Do The Environmental Inspector reports to the Compliance Officer and is responsible for ensuring compliance of the works with the Environmental Management System (EMS). Conduct monitoring and inspections on all aspects of the Works in accordance with the EMS. Maintain a log of monitoring and inspection events, including photographic evidence to support observations. Complete monitoring and inspection reports and provide them to the Environmental Compliance Officer as part of the Monthly Environmental Report. Provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting non-compliant practices within 24 hours of noticing a potential issue. Additional tasks as defined by the Compliance Officer and/or Environmental Director. Experience You Will Bring A diploma or bachelor/advanced degree in an environmental-related discipline (ecology/biology/environmental science) from a recognized post-secondary institution. A minimum of five years of demonstrated work experience in environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway construction or transit infrastructure projects, including work around watercourses and erosion and sedimentation control, reporting spills, containment of effluent and dust during construction. Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC), or proven proficiency in observing, inspecting and reporting on Erosion and Sediment Control Plans. Valid G class drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle. Non-business hours may be required for attending to critical situations. Why Join Us?
