Job Description

The Northern Shuswap Tribal Council (NSTC) is a First Nations Society in the Central Interior of British Columbia, also known as the Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw (NStQ), currently working on finalizing a self-government agreement through the BC Treaty Process with the following four communities: Other key programs and services include Aboriginal Victim Services, Fisheries, Skills Development and Indian Registry services. Key Responsibilities: Provides leadership to achieve the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of three organizations (Tribal Council, Treaty Society and Interior Native Development Corporation), including all department heads and programs; Provides leadership for the development of the vision, mission, and strategic plan in partnership with the governing body with a focus on change management; Develop an operational plan for the organizations strategic direction, communicate this through regular staff communications and by setting goals and monitoring progress with each department; Oversee the general management of all organizations financial affairs ensuring the establishment and review of internal financial controls to ensure effective financial and fiscal; Qualifications: Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Indigenous Governance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience: 57 years of senior management experience (preferably within a First Nation, non-profit, social service, or public sector environment) with a focus on change management. Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of First Nations history, culture, and issues in British Columbia; Proven experience in financial and human resources management, governance support, and reporting to multiple funders; Experience with the BC Treaty Commission process (BCTC) or comparable negotiation experience; Prior experience working directly in the four member communities is an advantage. Wage Range: Hourly rate of $50.96 to $61.94 dependent on experience and qualifications. NSTC offers a Competitive Benefits Package.
