Identity Engineering owns the systems responsible for onboarding all consumers and managing their authentication and verification journeys across affirms product surfaces. In this role you will gain a deep understanding of the business, product and engineering context, and utilize that context to own and deliver highavailability and lowlatency systems on the critical paths for all of our products. What Youll Do With the support of your teams tech lead and manager, break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work. Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design and analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and tradeoffs. Support the operations and availability of your teams artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting keep the lights on and oncall efforts. Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process. What We Look For 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer. Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems and proficiency in either Python or Kotlin. Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems, and technologies such as AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes. Ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, welltested and extensible code. Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others code, and providing constructive feedback through code reviews. Demonstrated ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from teammates, managers and stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team. Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelors degree in a related field. Pay Grade L Equity Grade 5 Employees new to affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure based on location, experience and jobrelated skills.
