In This Role, You Will Shape and lead a companywide engineering guild focused on securebydefault practices, modern SDLC patterns, and architectural consistency across our SaaS platforms. Design and build developercentric frameworks, libraries, and automation that improve system reliability, maintainability, and securitywithout slowing delivery. Work handson in code (Java, TypeScript, IaC) to create reusable components, integration patterns, and platform building blocks used across engineering teams. Enhance CI/CD pipelines with guardrails, automated checks, and feedback loops that improve code quality, reduce vulnerabilities, and streamline developer workflows. Partner with product, platform, and cloud engineering teams to evolve architecture standards, ensuring distributed systems are scalable, observable, and resilient. Lead design reviews and provide architectural guidance across services, APIs, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure, helping teams make highquality technical decisions. Introduce modern engineering patterns and tooling, including AIassisted static analysis, automated detection systems, and securebydefault scaffolding. Build documentation, best practices, and training materials that raise engineering excellence and empower developers to own security as part of system design. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to evaluate new technologies and integrate capabilities into platform workflows. Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture, promoting craftsmanship, simplicity, and scalable design across the stack. Help guide longterm architectural strategy, adapting secure development practices to new technologies and emerging patterns (e.g., AI systems, microservices evolution, eventdriven architectures). Heres What You Need Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 10+ years of experience building and architecting distributed systems for enterprise or largescale SaaS platforms. Strong handson coding experience with Java, TypeScript, cloudnative services, and infrastructureascode (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.). Deep understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, networking, caching, and persistence technologies. Experience designing and implementing automation in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.). Demonstrated ability to modernize engineering practices across multiple teams through frameworks, tooling, and shared architectural patterns. Familiarity with foundational security engineering principlessecure coding, service hardening, identity and access models, threat considerationseven if not in a securityonly role. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence engineers, product teams, and leadership. A track record of solving complex problems, driving change, and mentoring engineers through architectural decisions. Preferred Qualifications Experience improving security posture in a largescale distributed SaaS environment. Handson knowledge of AWS architecture (IAM, KMS, networking, load balancing, etc.). Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC2, PCI, HIPAA, etc.) and how engineering teams build systems that meet those requirements. Experience with threat modeling, design reviews, and platformlevel security patterns. Ability to make longterm architectural decisions (410years) aligned with platform and business strategy. Experience evaluating technologies, running POCs, or leading due diligence during acquisitions. Experience presenting technical topics to engineering organizations or external audiences.
