Available Locations London, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Austin, New York, Remote US, Toronto, Germany What Youll Do / Responsibilities Quicksilver is Cloudflares globally distributed keyvalue store. It replicates our data all around the world, over tens of thousands of servers and over 500 data centers. It handles all kinds of network conditions and serves billions of keys per second. In this role, you will own and support the entire stack: code base, unit and integration tests, deployment and rollback plans, operations, monitoring, alerting, debugging, and oncall. Quicksilver is written in Go and C. If working at this scale excites you and you are intrigued by tricky bugs, rather than being scared by them, you might be a match for this role. Write new features in Go and review pull requests for our distributed keyvalue store. Improve performance, CPU, memory usage, etc. Enhance monitoring and tooling, all written in Go. Help debug and investigate hardtoreproduce problems. Requirements Previous experience writing robust systems, focusing on code quality, performance, and technical debt. Proven experience with storage systems, peertopeer systems, largescale distributed systems, or general system programming. Experience chasing problems through multiple layers of a software stack, with curiosity and flexibility. Autonomous, selfdirected, with a history of thinking out of the box and delivering simple, smart designs for complex issues. A pragmatic mindset and belief in the value of simple solutions. Enjoy both lowlevel and highlevel programming, with a taste for programming language concepts. Comfortable being part of a team that challenges each others designs and gives constructive feedback to produce the best solution. Not afraid of engaging in outages during antisocial hours.
