Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Ryerson University Canada Posted: November 21, 2025 Deadline to Apply: Sunday, March 1, 2026 Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering (MIME) in the Faculty of Engineering & Architectural Science invites applications for a tenuretrack position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Mechatronics Engineering focusing on Mechatronics/Robotics, effective July12026, subject to final budgetary approval. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising students, and developing curriculum. The candidate will also pursue an externally funded, innovative research program that produces cuttingedge, highquality results. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ElectricalComputer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field by the appointment date. Required Evidence Strong background in theoretical/experimental mechatronics/robotics that complements the research of the Mechatronics Engineering group. Emerging scholarly research or creative activity that is current, innovative, and impactful, demonstrated by peerreviewed publications, conference presentations, community outreach, grants, researchrelated awards, and other relevant outputs. Potential for teaching excellence at all undergraduate levels and suitability for graduate teaching, evidenced by a teaching dossier. Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in service, teaching, and research, with demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population. Willingness to contribute to the life of the department and the university community through collegial service. Eligibility for, and commitment to, acquiring the P.Eng. The minimum salary for the Assistant Professor rank is $103,916.30 per annum, though salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering The department has 44 faculty members and offers accredited Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and (from 2027) Mechatronics Engineering. It also offers graduate programs (PhD, MASc, MEng) and hosts about 1,600 undergraduates, 100 graduate students, and 15 postdoctoral fellows.
