Job Description

Overview The Vice President Engineering MONARK role reports to the SVP, Engineering and provides management oversight and direction to large nuclear green field engineering projects. Responsibilities Leadership and oversight responsibility for design of the Monark reactor including design authority delegated from Chief Nuclear Engineer. Leadership and sponsorship of engineering improvement activities to support the business plan and financial goals. Manage the mentoring and coaching of staff, including development and execution of improvement plans, regular feedback, and succession planning. Manage all department resources within business plan and financial targets. Responsible for negotiation and communication with Project Partners with respect to configuration management requirements and work processes. Qualifications Engineering or technical degree from a university of recognized standing, with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience. Experience with supervision, oversight and plant site maintenance resulting in increased efficiencies and the customization of specialized teams. Experience with leadership of bargaining unit staff is a definite asset. Extensive experience in managing multi-million-dollar operating budgets. Extensive exposure and experience with human performance tools for utilities to reduce the human error rate and subsequent lost generation and equipment damage. At least 5 years commercial nuclear power plant experience, including serving at department head level with demonstrated engineering performance improvement. Achievement of engineering license (Canadian P.Eng or US PE) and registration with PEO or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in leadership of a significant engineering department. Demonstrated knowledge of INPO/WANO fundamentals and practices. Plant management experience with exposure to daytoday operations and oversight. Advanced knowledge of executing initiatives that improve equipment reliability and the performance of O&M and capital projects for nuclear utilities. Handson experience with efficiency reviews, monitoring and process improvement implementation enhancing reliability and site performance. Involvement in postFukushima strategy development and subsequent capital projects. Comprehensive experience with safety and operational aspects of commercial reactors. Training experience to develop and execute process improvements addressing work control and efficiency practices. Highly developed safety background with extensive knowledge of nuclear safety practices and requirements. Highly developed capability in costing, scheduling and overall management of utility operational projects. Highly motivated, resultsoriented selfstarter with strong engineering and peoplemanagement skills. Peopleoriented with strong business acumen and credibility with staff and clients. Establishes a strong presence and visibility as a senior leader, implementing change and enhancing performance. Strong negotiator, complex problem solver, influencer and decision maker. Excellent written and verbal communication with superior interpersonal and relationshipmanagement skills.
