Senior Financial Analyst Pacific Life Re We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support a 12month contract at our Pacific Life Re office in Toronto. The role requires hybrid availability inoffice at 40 King St. W, 24 days per week, with potential conversion to a permanent position. Job Description The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager, Financial Management and supports the development and production of Pacific Life Re accounting records, financial statements, and internal controls, liaising with internal and external auditors. How You''''ll Help Move Us Forward Support the Manager, Finance in fullcycle accounting to produce high quality financial results within established deadlines. Assist with the financial statement close process by preparing system feeds, journal entries, and adhoc reports. Prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, maintain supporting schedules, and investigate & document reconciling items. Adhere to established internal controls and operating procedures. Prepare quarteroverquarter and yearoveryear analyses, financial statements, regulatory reports, and management compliance reports. Critically analyze ledger balances and explain variances and movements. Participate and coordinate periodic finance departmental efforts to shorten the financial close period, simplify processes, and enhance analysis capabilities. Support PLRe projects assessing the impact of changing corporate structure, regulatory, system or reporting requirements, including detailed planning and execution of operational and financial reporting processes. Develop and maintain intradepartmental relationships with Operations/Corporate Actuarial to ensure accurate reinsurance accounting records and appropriate internal controls. Create and maintain internal control frameworks and support audit requirements. Respond to adhoc requests as needed. Qualifications and Experience University degree in Finance and/or Accounting. Progressing toward a recognized accounting qualification. 3+ years USGAAP/IFRS accounting or financial reporting experience within a financial services company (insurance or reinsurance preferred). Proven track record of effective people management, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Demonstrated success with significant process improvement projects. Ability to analyze and interpret data, draw conclusions, and explain findings to stakeholders. Selfstarter with a desire to develop technical knowledge and skills.
