ASD-W Language Support Teacher (LST-EAL) January 2026 ASD-W Language Support Teachers follow the district model to support Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) with content-area gaps related to their developing English proficiency. The Language Support Teacher schedules will be developed by their school in consultation with the EAL Subject Coordinator and Lead. LANGUAGE SUPPORT TEACHER - ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE (EAL) January June 2026 Leo Hayes High School Description: The LST-EAL will provide sheltered (small group) and in-class support for numeracy and literacy to identified long-term (5+ years) MLLs. The successful candidate will collaborate with their school team, the ASD-W Lead team, and DEI Facilitator within ASD-W. The District EAL-LST is responsible for the development of materials and resources that align with exemplary MLL instruction, and assessment practice in K-12 classrooms. The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of materials to support K-12 Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) and accurate alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR). They will have had recent experience supporting MLLs in sheltered groups as well as in inclusive classroom settings. They should have knowledge on current research on better practice for content instruction specific to MLLs along with the social/cultural/and emotional adjustment needs of newcomers. The candidate will also understand and align instruction to interests and cultural components of MLLs Responsibilities Will Include: Advocating for MLLs from a culturally responsive, strengths-based lens Collecting and analyzing data (formative assessment) Collaborating and communicating the district EAL team to create solutions to common concerns Assisting with the assessment of MLLs in content areas (literacy/numeracy/EAL) Planning, delivering and assessing small groups of MLLs using current approaches Adapting to the needs of Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) Regular teaching duties including supervision, professional learning, classroom management etc. Travel will be required as part of the role Qualifications: Applicants must possess experience instructing Multilingual Language Learners in a sheltered setting. Demonstrated understanding of EAL pedagogy and cultural humility (course work and/or extra-curricular support) Knowledge of inclusive practices to support MLLs in multi-aged, multicultural and multi-levelled classrooms Experience teaching mathematics and/or literacy or familiarity with these curricula in New Brunswick Strong knowledge of the CEFR Ability to be flexible, innovative and self-directed Skilled listener, good questioner, accomplished problem-solver and embody strong reflective capabilities Competence with digital learning; ability to provide support classrooms in face-to-face, Teaching within New Brunswick Public Schools will be considered an asset Ability to speak a language other than English/French is considered an asset These qualifications should be clearly documented in your resume.
