Position Information: Part-time support opportunity (temporary): Course Description & Outline: January 2026 February 2026; Course Development & Related Materials: February 2026 March 2026 Hourly rate: $40.18 paid on receipt of deliverables Department: Faculty of Hospitality & Horticultural Science (HHS) Hours: 100 hours total Reporting To: Barrett Centre Partnership Manager (HHS) Campus Location: Whitby, hybrid Vacancy status: existing vacancy The Faculty of Hospitality and Horticulture Science is seeking to contract a subject-matter expert for the development of a course outline and materials in Leadership for Sustainable Development. Reporting to the Barrett Centre Partnership Manager, and in collaboration with the new program development team, the subject-matter expert (SME) utilizes their background and experience working in or with the agriculture, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and social justice industries to research, develop and prepare a new Ontario Local College Certificate in Leadership for Sustainable Development. The SME works independently and collaboratively with a team to meet deliverables, with a range of stakeholders, both on campus and off, to ensure the new certificate is current and leading-edge in the urban agriculture and sustainability space. The SME will work with the Centre of Teaching and Learning to ensure programs adhere to ministry, institutional and regulatory requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure learning outcomes and the programs of studies course sequences meet institutional and Ministry priorities, including quality standards and applicable college policies, procedures and practices. Participate in meetings with various stakeholders to present and address inquiries regarding the proposed program. Provide subject-matter expertise regarding leadership for sustainable development in order to develop a course description and outline, learning outcomes and essential employability outcomes, design evaluations, curriculum, and learning activities / objectives. Contribute to the development of a pre-program advisory committee utilizing one''s own and the college''s professional network. Facilitate and report on external assessments with industry, student and academic focus groups/surveys.Respond to and amend documents as required to address internal and external reviews. Qualifications: Minimum 2-year Diploma in Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, Sustainability, Education, Agriculture, or Business Minimum of three years recent experience in the field of entrepreneurship, education, sustainability, or agriculture. Program and curriculum development experience considered an asset. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or in a corporate environment considered an asset. Exceptional skills in communication, critical thinking and research. Ability to take direction, work independently, and work effectively with a team, bringing innovative concepts to meetings. Good interpersonal and consultation skills with a high level of adaptability in dealing effectively and positively with diverse team members. Ability to produce high quality, detailed written documentation. Experience using organizational and project management skills while working under pressure within tight timelines.
