We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Junior Estimator to join our rapidly growing company in Toronto, Ontario. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains eligibility for and compliance with all requirements set out in RMC''s Security Clearance & Site Access Policy, including mandatory self-reporting obligations. Maintains driving eligibility in accordance with RMC''s Driver & Vehicle Safety Program, including compliance with all reporting obligations and applicable road safety laws when operating a vehicle for business purposes. Immediately reports any licence suspension, restriction, vehicle insurance change, or driving-related incident in accordance with RMC''s Driver & Vehicle Safety Program. 4. Look for new bid and pre-qualification opportunities continuously through various bidding portals (e.g., Merx, Biddingo, Vendor of Record (VOR) programs, etc.). 5. Prepare and submit in a timely manner accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals for various opportunities (e.g., bids, pre-qualifications, ROIs, etc.) using Stipulated Price, Design/Build and/or Construction Management formats. 6. Coordinate tender documents and plans for tendering. 7. Prepare cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work. 8. Perform preliminary and detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications. 9. Liaise with Subcontractors daily throughout tender to ensure sufficient bids will be received; manage and answer any questions Subcontractors may have and coordinate with clients for tender RFI clarifications. 10. Understand and abide by contractual terms and conditions. 11. Work with the Project Management Team through the project life cycle to monitor effectiveness of bid. 12. Organize and thoroughly review Subcontractors quotations, provide bid-levelling to ensure accurate analysis is obtained, and negotiate contracts. 13. Review and present awarded bids and contract documentation during the internal construction kick off with the Project Management Team. 14. Research costs/pricing to determine cost effectiveness. 15. Complete Budgeting for tenders and track same. 16. Co-ordinate with Subcontractors and other related trades to prepare materials and labour cost estimates. 17. Assist the Project Management Team to ensure accurate purchase orders are issued based on carried/negotiated subcontracts. 18. From time to time, assist the Project Management team to estimate Contemplated Change Notices and Change directives. 19. Develop and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labour costing to complete efficient take-offs. 20. Develop and maintain Historical Completed Projects list. 21. Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, quality, or availability of materials. 22. Maintain RMC''s list of suppliers, contractors, and Subcontractors. 23. Present estimates and conduct review meetings with clients (when applicable). Support all health & safety initiatives and service as a workplace role model by promoting safe work practices. Demonstrates and adheres to RMC Health & Safety Policies & Procedures. Demonstrates and adheres to RMC Employee Handbook. Demonstrates and adheres to the RMC OHSMS Manual Level I & II. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Exceptional understanding of Construction industry principles and techniques. Excellent understanding of trade scopes, scheduling, and coordination of work. Ability to read and interpret drawings (architectural, mechanical, and electrical). Familiar with Ontario Building Codes, Ministry of Labour and Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations (OHSA). Ability to rapidly build strong relationships with existing and new sub-trades. Ability to work in a team atmosphere and positively influence others. Self-motivated and operates with a sense of urgency. Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing). Strong computer skills including proficiency with all Microsoft office programs. Familiarity with estimation software and digital take-off tools. Proficiency with MS Project to create proposed project schedules for tender Technical Submissions Minimum Qualifications: Employment in this role is conditional upon continued compliance with all legal, safety, driving, and competency requirements applicable to construction estimators. Secondary school diploma is required along with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction estimation. Must meet and maintain all security clearance requirements as defined in RMC''s Security Clearance & Site Access Policy, including self-reporting of any changes that may affect clearance or site access. Must meet and maintain all eligibility requirements in RMC''s Driver & Vehicle Safety Program, including mandatory self-reporting of any licence, insurance, or driving-record changes that may affect the ability to drive for business purposes. Continued employment in this role requires ongoing compliance with RMC''s Driver & Vehicle Safety Program and Security Clearance & Site Access Policy.
