This comprehensive training program will provide newly graduated individuals the chance to further their education and increase their knowledge of design layouts, hydraulic calculations, stock listing and project management. Working on real projects under a Senior Designer, the successful candidates will leave the training with the ability to hit-the-ground running and enjoy further career advancement opportunities. The successful candidate will assist in producing drawings on a variety of buildings including commercial, residential, industrial and healthcare facilities. Responsibilities: Design, calculate and stock list fire sprinkler projects in a construction environment. Work with a team of fire protection designers, reporting directly to the design team leader. Liaise between management, estimating, design, fabrication, installation, and project management as a valuable team member resulting in increased profitability. Assist in continuing and maintaining company best practices in coordination with national fire protection design team. Verify that all deliverables meet NFPA standards and local ordinance. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Post-secondary education in Fire Protection Engineering & Technology, Mechanical Design or equivalent. Knowledge of design layout, hydraulic calculations, stock listing and project management would be an asset. NICET certification and/or have the ability to become certified. Experience working with AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculations. Experience with HydraCAD is an asset.
