Job Purpose: Joining the Viking-Cives family you will have pride working within our fast-paced custom fabrication shop. Snow and ice removal /heavy truck equipment manufacturer located in Mount Forest, ON. is growing again and has an immediate requirement for a Junior Buyer. As the Junior Buyer your overall responsibilities will be to place purchase orders for material for the timely delivery of goods to meet the requirements of production while upholding and representing our company values. This position requires the ability to negotiate contracts with vendors, and conduct data analysis and reporting for the department. The Junior Buyer will foster relationships with vendors and build relationships with new vendors. The Junior Buyer must promote and maintain an important level of communication and liaison with both the internal departments and external Vendors. It is expected that this position will conduct business with the best interest of Viking Cives Ltd in mind while following strong ethical and supply chain principles. Job Duties: Review quotations for specification compliance and submit for approvals, obtain drawings and model for new purchases. Focus on obtaining savings and competitive prices, perform savings tracking Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics regarding local vendors, as required. Ensure parts arrive in a timely manner. Update and maintain the MRP system on vendor records, purchasing price, lead time, payment terms, and currency. Coordinate Vendor Returns in a timely manner with shipping and accounting departments. Issue POs according to MRP Job Requirements, Kanban, and Indirect Purchase Requisitions, within established limits of established authority. Perform daily and weekly follow-up activities on POs and shipment tracking information to ensure on-time deliveries. Proactively report supply chain constraints to the Purchasing Manager Prepare and communicate procurement plans or forecasts to vendors. -Understand market trends of assigned commodities. Resolve receiving and invoicing discrepancies. Qualifications/Experience: Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner both verbally and in writing with all levels of the Viking Cives team and suppliers Strong drive and time management skills Good organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure timely completion of assignments. Strong negotiation skills and awareness of impact on company and projects Proficient analytical skills Customer service oriented Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Excellent organizational and communication skills Comprehensive understanding of MS Office, and manufacturing software Ability to read technical drawings including BOMs (Bill of Materials) Knowledge of purchasing/inventory control in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing processes 1-3 years of purchasing/logistics/inventory control background.
