Position Summary Plas Tech Extrusions is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor who is a qualified Millwright to lead and execute all maintenance activities within our extrusion manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, safe operation of machinery, effective preventive maintenance programs, and leadership of the maintenance team. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership and organizational skills. This is a working supervisor role that requires active involvement in troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Maintenance Leadership o Lead, mentor, and supervise the maintenance team (millwrights, electricians, contractors). o Schedule and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize production downtime. o Assign daily work orders and ensure timely completion. o Coordinate after-hours, weekend, and emergency maintenance as required. o Support hiring, training, performance management, and discipline of maintenance staff. o Communicate with other departments on progress/status of equipment repairs Hands-On Mechanical & Millwright Duties o Perform and oversee mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations on extrusion lines and supporting equipment. o Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, pumps, motors, conveyors, cooling systems, pullers, saws, die handling systems, and downstream equipment. o Conduct equipment alignments, bearing replacements, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs. o Support equipment rebuilds, line changeovers, and tooling installations. o Work closely with electricians to diagnose mechanical/electrical interface issues. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance o Develop, implement, and continuously improve the preventive maintenance (PM) program. o Ensure all PMs are completed, documented, and tracked in maintenance software o Analyze equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions. o Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and equipment history in maintenance software Safety & Compliance o Promote and enforce a strong safety culture. o Ensure all maintenance work complies with OHSA, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and company safety policies. o Conduct regular safety inspections and hazard assessments. o Lead or participate in incident investigations and corrective actions. Budgeting, Inventory & Planning o Manage the maintenance budget and control maintenance-related costs. o Oversee spare parts inventory, tooling, and critical components. o Work with Purchasing to source parts, negotiate pricing, and manage vendors. o Coordinate external contractors and service providers as needed. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration o Partner with Production, Quality, and Engineering to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency. o Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new installations. o Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, scrap, and maintenance costs. o Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Requirements Required o Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) or equivalent experience. o Minimum 510 years of hands-on millwright experience in a manufacturing environment. o 3+ years in a supervisory or management role preferred. o Strong experience with plastic extrusion equipment or similar continuous manufacturing processes. o Proven troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems & PLC''s o Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and schematics. o Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. o Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. o Computer proficiency (CMMS, maintenance tracking, email, Excel). Assets (Preferred) o Experience in plastics extrusion or related industries. o Electrical troubleshooting knowledge (controls awareness). o Welding and fabrication skills. o Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience. Working Conditions o Manufacturing plant environment. o On-call availability for emergencies. o Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required. o Standing, walking, bending, and working at heights when necessary. Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $85,000.00-$90,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
