Description The School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the following course(s) in Spring 2026. Lectures for the spring 2026 term run from May 4 to June 15, and lectures for the summer 2026 term run from June 29 to August 12; however, some course offerings may run for three weeks rather than six weeks. SCPA Topics in Inter-Arts Collaborations (Community Arts Activation) LEC 01 LAB B01 Course Dates: May 4 - May 25, 2026 Monday through Friday 9:00-12:00 Course Description: This course will provide students with a hands-on introduction to Theatre for Young Audiences. Students will be introduced to creative practices for meaningful audience engagement and interaction, as well as strategies for collaboration and co-creation with youth. Areas of emphasis will include directing with youth as well as principles of effective movement and clown performance. Students will also have the option of participating in a TYA public engagement opportunity with the Arts Commons in downtown Calgary. Required qualifications: MFA in Drama Experience teaching Theatre for Young Audiences at the post-secondary level Experience teaching acting, directing and movement for performance, as well as mask and clown at the post-secondary level An established record of directing in professional theatre Experience with BIPOC communities considered an asset Significant teaching experience and demonstrated ability to deliver curriculum at the post-secondary level with requisite theoretical and practical approaches Application Process: To apply to the above teaching opportunities, please submit your application documents (in pdf form) to the U of C Careers site, using the ''Apply Now'' link.
