We''re hiring Maintenance Painters to join our seasonal maintenance crew, which has an essential role in keeping our bridges safe, durable, and looking their best. You''ll work alongside a skilled, supportive team in unique and sometimes challenging environments. Full training is provided, so you can do the work safely, confidently, and to a high standard. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will: Follow HHB safety policies, procedures, and reporting standards. This role requires employees to work safely at all times by following HHB''s safety standards, using the proper equipment, and reporting any hazards, incidents, or concerns. Prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings to bridge structures. Ensuring the bridge surfaces are cleaned, repaired, and ready for painting, and applying coatings that protect the bridge from wear, rust, and weather. Participate in specialized safety and rescue training. Employees will receive guidance and support to meet high-angle rescue and other safety training provided by HHB. Assist with other duties as needed. Keeping your skills up to date through practice and training, and being willing to help with other tasks when required. Requirements: You''re a strong fit if you are: Comfortable working in unique and elevated environments. This role includes tasks at heights, in varying weather conditions, and in spaces that may be tight or highly active. Training is provided, and team safety is always the top priority. Able to meet role-specific physical and health requirements. This includes physical demands assessments, blood lead level testing, and other checks as needed for this role Reliable, safety-minded, and team-oriented. We value completion of tasks on time and to a high standard, punctuality, dependability, and a positive attitude in all working conditions. Able to handle moderate physical activity. The role may involve lifting items up to 50 lbs, working in varied or occasionally awkward positions, and climbing to reach certain work areas. Experienced with power hand tools. Having experience using tools such as grinders, sanders, or drills is helpful, but not required. Training can be provided. In receipt of a valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver''s licence with a clean driving record. Vacancy: Hiring multiple positions Position: This is a Full-time, permanent-seasonal position that runs from mid-April to late October (subject to operational needs) Hours: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM4:30 PM (40 hrs/week), plus required overtime (including weekends) Wage: $22.85/hour during probation (per Collective Agreement), plus overtime and weekend premiums This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
