Summary The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a member of the Professional Services team and work independently on HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and Building Automation System (BAS) upgrade projects. The candidate must have strong communication, client liaison skills and a solid technical background to start and complete projects independently. Projects include tenant fit-up, commercial building mechanical retrofit system upgrades, data centre HVAC retrofit projects, decarbonization strategies and design. This role is an individual contributor position; however, the candidate will provide experience, leadership and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team. The role will collaborate with the CAD department to develop and deliver mechanical designs. Key Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for independent project management of multiple concurrent mechanical design projects, including: Management of scope and deliverables Management of CAD deliverables and CAD staff deliverables Management of requests with authorities having jurisdiction Management of project budgets and financials Provide client communication and coordination, design development, and construction contract administration for mechanical systems upgrade projects. Provide feasibility and assessment studies related to existing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and BAS systems. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, facility management professionals and technicians to develop short and long-term recommendations, design and construction implementation for mechanical upgrade projects in existing facilities. The Senior Mechanical Engineer must be able to work independently with minimal supervision to complete project assignments. Support Project Delivery Services Project Managers and Workplace Solutions Architects from project initiation to completion. General Duties Support the Professional Services team with mentoring young engineers. Support the Professional Services team to develop and improve processes, including quality control. Support the Professional Services team to further develop and upkeep standard specifications, detail libraries, and design best practices. Support the Professional Services team with experience and leadership on all mechanical scope items. Knowledge & Skills Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or college diploma with minimum 9 years of consulting industry experience providing mechanical design and engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer able to stamp mechanical drawings in the province of Ontario. Strong technical background in HVAC, building controls, plumbing and life safety systems. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as Provincial and National Building Codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASME, API, ANSI, CSA, etc. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on several projects concurrently. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and the ability to coordinate with Architectural, Electrical and Structural disciplines. Proficiency with MS Office products. Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees. Prior client interface experience. Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. A team player and able to travel throughout North America. Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. Licensed Professional Engineer in other provinces would be considered a bonus. Other Must have a valid Class G license and vehicle to travel throughout Ontario for projects. Willing to travel to other provinces for projects. This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $82,432 - $103,040 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidates competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
