Birch Hill Equity Partners (Birch Hill) is a Canadian midmarket private equity firm with a long history of driving growth in its portfolio companies and delivering returns to its investors. Based in Toronto, Birch Hill currently has over $6billion in capital under management. Since 1994, the firm has made 73 investments, with 59 fully realized. Today, Birch Hills 14 partner companies collectively represent one of Canadas largest corporate entities with over $8billion in total revenue and more than 40,000 employees. Birch Hill is seeking an experienced legal professional to assume the role of Legal Manager. As the sole legal resource, you will take a leadership role on a broad range of legal and compliance matters. Key legal responsibilities include coordinating with external counsel to maintain legal records and minute books for approximately 50 entities, managing organizational charts and NDAs using specialized software, overseeing contract listings, and assisting with regulatory filings. The role also involves facilitating AML/KYC processes, supporting the opening and closing of financial accounts, managing the firms compliance systems, and collaborating with internal teams on information requests and special projects. This role will also support the CFO with payroll and benefits administration, including monthly payroll, supporting yearend tax reporting, coordinating with consultants on insurance renewals, and managing employee onboarding, offboarding, and related HR processes and communications. Reporting to the COO and the CFO, this position will be based at Birch Hills office in the Financial District of Toronto in a hybrid arrangement (4 days in office). The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in corporate administration or seniorlevel legal support as a law clerk or paralegal. Any prior experience within a private equity or fund company would be an asset, but not required. You should be organized, detailoriented, a selfstarter, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to take ownership and pride in your work, a positive attitude, and the willingness to pitch in and be a team player, are essential to success in this role. The role also requires a high degree of professionalism and discretion, as you will be dealing with confidential information. Strong technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office, corporate databases, and regulatory filing systems, are strongly preferred, though training on the software systems will be provided. This is a closeknit group within a professional environment that is friendly and rewards excellence. This is an exceptional opportunity with a successful and exciting organization that will continue to grow.
