1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants Requisition ID: 178681 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Department: Quality Market: Nuclear Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview Reporting to the Power Block Execution Director for an operational perspective and Project Quality Manager for all technical matters, the Quality Control Power Block Lead will be responsible for the supervision and oversight of all quality control inspection staff deployed across the Power Block during the physical execution phase encompassing both the Nuclear Island (NI) and Conventional Island (CI) scope. Location The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate. Responsibilities Ensure Quality Control requirements applicable to the Power Block are effectively controlled and executed. Assist in the development and implementation of project specific quality control procedures and work instructions to support all construction activities including but not limited to civil, mechanical and electrical works through to handover to commissioning. Supervise and support the Quality Control Team assigned across both the NI, CI and Balance of Plant (BOP) segments associated with the Power Block in its entirety. Interface with the engineering, procurement, and construction groups on matters related to the planning of QC activities required by the design and applicable codes and standards including preparation of Inspection and Test Plans, Construction Work Packages, and NCR management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance project quality-related documentation, including inspection checklists, test protocols, work instructions, and project-specific procedures. Establish a culture of continuous improvement by identifying new practices that will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the project. Timely inspections are performed based on construction schedule. Working with the Quality Manager, maintain liaison with Alliance Partners on matters related to the execution quality control requirements across the Power Block in its entirety. Promote a culture of Delivery Excellence which incorporates both nuclear safety and quality within the in-field team deployed across the Power Block. Support internal audits and customer oversight activities associated with the works execution phase. Assist the project construction team with understanding of codes and standards and regulatory requirements required by the design. Accountable for collation, review and approval of Lifetime Records (LTRs). Any other requirements as outlined in Aecons Quality Assurance Manuals. Qualifications At a minimum, a college graduate in a related field, 7 years experience with 5 years supervisory experience preferred. Experience in the nuclear heavy construction / fabrication industry. A good understanding of the following codes and standards: ASME Section III, Div. 1 and Div. 2 ASME Section II, Part A, B and C ASME Section V CSA N285.0, CSA B51, and CSA N299. CSA N287 and CSA N291 ASME B31.1 and B31.3 ANSTTC1A CSA W59/ W47.1 ASME Section VIII Div. 1 ASME Section IX ISO 9001:2015 ANSI N690 Experience in deployment of continuous improvement and the use of process improvement methodologies. Have an understanding of design and construction requirements. Demonstratable strong coordination and organization skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and diligence. Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, Alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Shared Point and project databases. Certifications such as CWB Weld Inspector (Level II or III), CGSB Level 2 Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle Technician, and AWS Weld Inspector will be an asset. Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, climbing into awkward locations, working at heights, annual eye exams, and extensive reading.
