Position Information Department: Service Location: 480 Gordon Baker Road Hybrid Status: Full Time Reports to: Technical Lead Marine Summary of Responsibilities Provide comprehensive technical support, services, training, and solutions to boat builders, government, and other Yamaha special market accounts. Support the marine markets by researching and reporting technical issues, and providing timely, advanced technical information and training aids. Travel regularly to B2B and special market accounts. Provide specialized support while building foundation for Yamaha branding and loyalty. Primary responsibility is to B2B, govt, rescue, special accounts. Key Duties and Responsibilities Client Engagement and Support Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to Yamaha special market clients to strengthen their service operations and technical capabilities. Guide troubleshooting of complex unit failures and recommend improvements for service quality. Engage with clients to identify areas of improvement, facilitate technician education, and support participation in Yamaha training programs. Foster a proactive approach to problemsolving and continuous improvement. Support includes specialized training and administrative support. Onsite technical training: rigging, YDIS system initialization, unit operation, etc. Installation process audits. Bill of Materials (BOM) development. Be the main point of contact for all service and technical issues, including parts inquiries, backorder management, warranty issue resolution, and communications. Specialized Product Performance Support Create boat performance bulletins. Create propeller application charts. Support Special Markets Sales Team Provide confidential new product development support to B2B and special accounts. New model development / design. Boat builder concurrent testing for new engine models. Support creation of sales quotes on specking out new boat builds. Technical Market Research Conduct technical research and provide market information regarding product and market problems. Actively participate in unit testing, unit 10 modifications, and unit inspections. Conduct field testing and product evaluations (QRQS) including competitive products. Additional YMCA Support Provide technical assistance to training material developers; assist with new model updates, YTA handson modules, seminar materials, etc.; deliver prepared material at various locations across Canada. Execute special field repair campaigns (e.g., warehouse repairs). Serve as a member of product planning, college and government committees. Travel as necessary to Yamaha offices, factories, and meeting locations (Canada, USA, Japan). Provide support to Special Regulatory Affairs on special cases when called upon; liaise between dealer, claimant, and YMCA; support legal with technical research and represent YMCA in the region as required, including incourt appearances. Yamaha Brand Support at Shows/Events Participate and provide technical support for dealer shows, consumer shows, special field events (e.g., camp clinics), and media events. Education Requirements and/or Experience Requirements Degree/Diploma and experience: 35+ years operational and technical experience. Motorsports/marine retail/wholesale experience. Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, analytical, presentation and written). Proven ability to be an effective team member and collaborator. Strong influencing and change management skills. Postsecondary diploma/degree, technical designation or equivalent work experience. Valid auto drivers license. PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operators Card). Marine Radio Operators Certificate, ROCM*. Toronto Ports Authority Powered Vessel Operators Permit*. Program of Study: Business/Technical skills. Years of Experience: 35+ years. Type of Experience: Marine or industry experience. Advanced operator skills for assigned products. Expected Salary Range $70,000 $80,000 per annum. Although base salary for this position falls within the above posted range, final compensation will be determined based on the candidates skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
