Job Summary A Labourer supports sewer, water, and civil construction projects by assisting pipe crews, equipment operators, and supervisors with day-to-day site activities. Key duties include handling and organizing tools and materials, shoveling and backfilling, operating small compaction equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Labourers are expected to work safely at all times, follow directions, and actively participate in toolbox talks and safety procedures. The role requires physical fitness, attention to safety, and teamwork to ensure the successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects. We are recruiting for the 2026 season (May through October). Key Responsibilities Site & Crew Support Work with the Foreman and crew to install pipe and utilities according to project specifications. Assist equipment operators by spotting, signaling, and supporting excavation activities. Handle and organize tools, materials, and equipment as directed. Manual Labour & Equipment Shovel gravel, sand, and soil to support trenching, pipe bedding, and backfilling. Operate compactors (plate packers, jumping jacks, etc.) to achieve proper soil compaction. Perform general site cleanup and material handling as needed. Safety & Compliance Work safely on all job sites and actively promote a safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including participation in daily Tailgate Talks. Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain awareness of equipment, traffic, and utilities on site. Teamwork & Communication Follow directions from the Foreman and supervisors while working collaboratively with the crew. Communicate clearly to support safe and efficient site operations. Qualifications Previous experience as a labourer/helper. Class 5 Driver''s License and reliable transportation to job sites. Willingness to perform manual labour, including shoveling, carrying materials, and operating small tools and equipment. Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs, with the stamina to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and maintain awareness on active job sites. Commitment to working safely and adhering to company safety policies and procedures. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Please note that there is no housing or LOA provided for this position.Must be Whitehorse local or arrange own housing.
