Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. About Community Career and Employment Services: Community Career and Employment Services at Fanshawe College delivers client-centred Employment Ontario services that support job seekers and employers in achieving sustainable employment outcomes. Our team provides individualized employment counselling, career planning and job search support while working closely with local employers and community partners to strengthen the workforce and make a meaningful impact in the Simcoe/Norfolk community. Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Manager, the incumbent is responsible for offering employment consulting to job seekers in the Norfolk area. Plans, implements and monitors activities related to information and resource services, employment planning and preparation, and job search. Includes participant recruitment, intake and assessment, creation of employment action plans, employer recruitment, program and workshop delivery, monitoring of activities, file documentation, data entry into the government database, and statistics collection. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides Client Related Career and Employment Services by: Provides excellent service to our customers, including students, staff and community members, by greeting and assisting all patrons in a professional manner Assisting clients throughout the process of developing a plan to successful outcome Providing Information and Resource services to clients regarding career and educational opportunities and ensuring that appropriate and current labour market and materials are available to them. Such information may include but is not limited to labour market, job search, retraining, self-employment programs, etc. Monitoring and tracking clients who are accessing self-directed job-related services. Determining clients'' need for further vocational services Conducting intake interviews to determine client eligibility; conducting assessments of clients eligible for programs by identifying and documenting clients'' skills, interests, abilities, educational background and work experience Developing, in collaboration with the client, a career action plan that clarifies vocational goals, identifies barriers to employment and describes short-term and long-term steps required to overcome barriers and achieve goals Providing ongoing employment direction to clients, making appropriate referrals to community services as required. Periodically assessing client progress and making appropriate adjustments to the career action plan Identifying career exploration opportunities such as job shadowing, volunteerism, job trials, and on-the-job training placements Monitoring client performance, proposing and implementing appropriate problem-solving, as required Researching, developing and delivering workshops on topics as a result of the assessment process and the ongoing needs of the client as identified in the employment action plan Maintaining client-tracking systems, recording the activities of individual clients and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of required documentation, including contracts and statistics Performing and maintaining data associated with client tracking from open to follow-up by recording activities of clients and ensuring timely and accurate completion of required documentation; ensuring correct data entry, completion of computerized statistics, and review of reports and data to ensure targets are met Assisting clients in collecting and completing the necessary paperwork to apply for funded programs Completing necessary documentation to support client applications and making recommendations to the funding source re: supporting the training Program Promotion and Partnerships: Liaising with government agencies, employers and a variety of community, social and educational agencies Participating on committees where community planning needs and issues regarding training and employment are being addressed; making presentations to community groups and agencies as required Developing and implementing program marketing strategies Promotes partnerships with other agencies by: Remaining current and aware of all employment and social service agencies Maintaining positive working relationships with other agencies Developing streamlined referral system between agencies Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Post-secondary2-year diploma in Social Services, Career Practitioner and/or Employment Counselling or related field Minimum 3 years'' experience in career and employment counselling, employment workshop delivery, and job placement, in an environment where analysis and assessment of client needs and barriers An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Own transportation required for periodic travel Fanshawe College uses Workday to manage recruitment and hiring processes.
