The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) acts as a primary (but not exclusive) point of contact between Bayer and Thought Leaders and acts as the scientific expert between Bayer and the medical community to facilitate education and evidence generation. The MSL - Cardiovascular Renal shall act as a scientific expert and liaison through the dissemination and education of scientific data and material, including clinical research, real-world evidence and health economic outcomes research. The MSL establishes long-term scientific and strategic relationships with Thought Leaders, major medical associations and academic centers, and supports advisory boards, learning programs, CME, research and publications. The MSL also shares insights with cross-functional Bayer partners to deliver product and therapeutic area training and contribute to market access and research activities. This is a vacant field-based permanent position for the province of British Columbia. What you will do Exchange and dissemination of scientific educational and research-related information as the PPOC for assigned TLs. Plan, partner and engage with TLs as a subject matter expert to disseminate, clarify and educate on scientific data, study protocols, conference abstracts, publications and clinical guidelines. Collaborate with other field roles to address scientific needs of all stakeholders (on-label proactive discussions and reactive discussions for unsolicited off-label questions in line with local regulations). Act as primary point of contact (PPOC) for key TLs, fostering strong partnerships and acting as a trusted advisor and conductor to achieve win-win outcomes. Identify TLs, profile, segment and plan engagement by translating the local medical plan into TL engagement plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Generate TL insights on current clinical practice, beliefs and unmet needs, and communicate them to cross-functional partners to inform agile planning cycles. Stay abreast of latest scientific research in the therapeutic area and develop understanding of Bayers market strategies and the healthcare landscape to anticipate stakeholder needs and shape plans accordingly. Coordinate and organize scientific learning activities within the therapeutic area with TLs and Bayer partners as needed. Organize and lead regional consultant meetings related to current and evolving clinical practice, ongoing research, pipeline assets and future indications to gather insights and shape go-to-market strategies. Collect Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) ideas and facilitate IIR setup as PPOC for investigators with appropriate Bayer personnel for approval and communication of progress. Support medical operations and site management for non-interventional and interventional trials with feasibility, initiation visits and recruitment/data collection. Provide training on disease state, Bayer and competitor products for internal cross-functional partners and external stakeholders as needed (market access, medical/clinical operations or commercial activities). Document medical information (MI) queries in alignment with MI handling procedures. Ensure compliance with company procedures by promptly reporting within 24 hours all adverse events, product quality or product technical complaints, and any other safety-related information. Who you are Bachelors degree; advanced degree in science-related field (MD, PharmD, PhD preferred). At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a customer-facing medical affairs role or in drug information, clinical research and development, or other clinically relevant activities. Demonstrated learning agility and transferable skills to cover different therapeutic areas as needed. Ability to work in a team environment and build productive relationships both internally and externally. Ability to work independently and a demonstrated self-starter. Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills with thorough attention to detail and timely follow-through with Thought Leaders and cross-functional partners. Experience learning and using digital technology to develop communications, TA campaigns and/or analyze medical data to generate insights. Demonstrated business acumen and a mindset of Dynamic Shared Ownership, focusing on outcomes, collaboration, accountability, solution orientation and customer centricity. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation. Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, disability, and contributory retirement savings plans, etc. This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on factors including market data, applicants skills and experience, job-related knowledge and certifications. This role also provides the opportunity to earn additional performance-based compensation. If performance-based compensation is earned, the total compensation package may provide an opportunity to earn a Total Direct Compensation (TDC) range of $127,400.00 to $177,400.00. This TDC would include base salary and may also include bonuses and incentives. The estimated TDC range assumes 100% target performance; actual amounts may vary.
