Job Description

The IT Project Manager is responsible for applying project management methodologies throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. This includes project design, scope management, cost control, quality assurance, and performance reporting. The role requires strong organizational skills, stakeholder management, and adherence to governance policies while supporting the audit and compliance team. Key Responsibilities Develop, track, and manage project budgets, plans, timelines, and scope Manage project resources, including procuring staff, motivating, coaching, and advising team members Collaborate with functional project teams to define business requirements Lead development teams in delivering high-quality software solutions that meet business needs Define and oversee test plans to ensure products are defect-free prior to User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Facilitate UAT processes and develop rollout plans and procedures Prepare and present cost-benefit analyses to stakeholders Ensure adherence to systems development and project management best practices Present updates and recommendations to steering committees or project sponsors Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (MBA or advanced degree preferred) PMP or PMI certification required 57 years of proven project management experience Strong people management and team-building skills Ability to adapt and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic environment with competing priorities Quick learner of business processes and effective collaborator with stakeholders at all levels Strong risk assessment and management skills for technology applications and business functions Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in large-scale, multi-platform environments Preferred Skills Excellent communication and presentation skills Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies Ability to manage budgets and timelines effectively Technical background and/or compliance or risk experience Experience in financial institutions Candidate Requirements Must-Have Skills: Governance policies knowledge Nice-to-Have Skills: Technical background Compliance or risk experience Client Call Notes: PM will support compliance work within a broader integrated Risk & Compliance initiative. This team supports the risk and compliance team at Manulife and is looking for an IT PM Includes Archer configuration project, budgeting, tracking, governance, and stakeholder communication. This role is for a Senior Project Manager supporting a multi-year Risk & Compliance program at Manulife. The PM will work closely with both business and technology teams to manage financials, governance, stakeholder communication, and delivery execution. The environment is structured, complex, and requires someone who can quickly understand governance processes, coordinate across teams, and ensure projects stay on time and on budget. A strong, confident PM with enterprise experience is essential. Must-Haves 57+ years of hands-on Project Management experience (Must have led large, multi-million-dollar projects not a junior PM or coordinator.) Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (Frequent interaction with Risk, Compliance, and Technology leadership.) Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple moving parts in a complex environment. PMP or PMI certification (required). Ability to work hybrid in Toronto; Waterloo acceptable with occasional site visits. Nice-to-Haves Experience delivering technology or IT-enabled projects. Background in Risk, Compliance, or Audit programs. Exposure to Archer (configuration or implementation).
