As a Cost Control Strategist with Calgary Transit (CT) you will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring the divisions 4-year budget cycle and rolling 10-year financial outlook for Transit Service Vehicles. You will execute cost control activities, facilitate capital and operating planning, financial reporting, and invoice processing, ensuring compliance with corporate procedures. You will collaborate across teams to support strategic decision-making and ensure divisional capital programs and budgets are aligned with organizational strategies and funding. Primary duties include: Create and execute the process for multi-year budget and financial outlooks (capital and operating). Update and maintain accurate financial records for the corporate Investment Opportunity Systems (IOS) and capital investment plans. Facilitate divisional discussions for recast and mid-cycle adjustments, track, and submit information to Corporate Finance. Prepare, analyze, and communicate accurate budget and forecast reports to leadership, Finance, and other interested parties. Administer and support Project Portfolio Management (P2M) processes, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting and alignment of projects with divisional and corporate objectives. Execute project cost control activities including cost monitoring, financial reporting and support for operational cost performance initiatives and capital projects, programs and Annual Investment Programs (AIP). Facilitate the creation of project ID''s and reference codes for efficient tracking. Support grant funding applications and provide project-based support on cost control activities. Manage invoice processing and accruals, ensuring timely and accurate payments in alignment with corporate procedures. Design, implement and continuously improve processes, templates and documentation that support cost control, procurement and budget planning. Reconcile insurance payouts/refunds for transit vehicles. Participate in initiatives related to financial data, key performance indicators and cost of service development work. Qualifications A degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, or related field combined with at least 5 years of progressive financial experience in cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis. Experience in developing, managing, and monitoring multi-year budget cycles is required. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, data analysis and visualization are essential. A strong literacy in SAP Ariba and PeopleSoft is an asset. You will have a strong attention to detail, demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with process implementation, relationship management, and well-developed skills in communicating with all levels of an organization.
