Calgary Zone RA, Calgary, Sunridge Professional Centre NEW Psych/Counselling/Social Work REC 5 hours ago Your Opportunity: The Psychologist I (Psych I) - FAOS will carry out advanced professional duties as assigned including clinical assessment, treatment, testing, and counseling of legally mandated adults within the Calgary Zone, in order to maintain a continuity in care philosophy. The Psych I may also support with clinical program development, standardized assessment, and program tasks for the general FAOS clinic in addition to duties as a member of the treating clinical team. The primary population this position serves is one with complex Forensic and Mental Health issues. Primary treatment services are provided within the context of a forensic mental health outpatient clinic setting to individuals either convicted of or moving through the justice system for a wide variety of offenses under the criminal code of Canada. The Psych I may also provide input/participate in facilitation of program development, staff development, service planning, QI and evaluation and/or research activities as identified. Working within an interdisciplinary team the incumbent will provide therapeutic psychosocial interventions in an individual and group format to establish and sustain effective treatment strategies for the offender. The Psych I will be responsible for consultation to the members of the interdisciplinary team and to other internal and external professionals. You will also be involved in aspects of program and policy development, evaluation & research and will participate in staff training and in-service education. Further this position will foster and maintain liaisons with outside justice agencies and professionals for the benefit of the clients and the program. Work will be performed with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional standards of practice. Description: As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Additional Required Qualifications: Master''s Degree in Psychology required. Current active registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). 3-5 years prior experience in an acute mental health setting. 3-5 years prior experience in a Community Mental Health setting. Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions essential (group and individual). Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting required. Must have authorization to perform restricted activities. Solid interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills required. Formal training or practical experience utilizing CBT, DBT, Group Psychotherapy, Family therapy &/or other endorsed forms of therapy is required. In-Depth knowledge of mental health / Mental Illness required. NVCI. Preferred Qualifications: Sound knowledge of and experience working with Sexual and Domestic Violence offenders preferred. Knowledge of the Justice systems/Legal systems preferred. Recent experience working with an offender population preferred. Experience in a forensic mental health setting is preferred. Forensic Community Mental Health experience preferred. Experience with community partner and stakeholder engagement an asset. ATSA certification preferred.
