Norwood Community Centre Custodian Position Job Description and Application Information Position Overview The Norwood Community Centre is seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to join our team. As a custodian, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere of our facility for all community members and guests. Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize all areas of the community centre, including washrooms, meeting/ banquet halls, change rooms, hallways, offices. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and waste removal. Restock supplies and ensure washrooms are well maintained. Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for events and activities. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards. Assist with minor repairs as needed or liaise with contractors for larger repairs. Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with all centre policies and procedures. Meet with renters for setting up and collecting payment on rentals Qualifications Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Good physical stamina: ability to lift up to 50 kg and perform repetitive tasks. Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required. Successful completion of a criminal record check prior to employment. Successful applicant must be bondable. Working Conditions Hourly wage: please state your expected wage when applying Part-time shifts min 34 hours per week Monday to Wednesday 330 pm to 930 pm Saturday and Sunday 730 am to 330 pm Work environment includes indoor and occasional outdoor tasks.
