Takwata Builders LP (TKBT) is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects. Established to support mines and largescale construction initiatives within TTN''s traditional territory, TKBD operates a substantial fleet of earthworks equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. The company''s senior personnel bring extensive experience in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, pond and ditch development, and a wide range of earthworks projects of varying scale and complexity. Job Summary/About the Role We are seeking a Certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role is essential to keeping our diverse fleet of heavy equipment operational, safe, and performing at peak efficiency. The successful candidate will work on a variety of equipment including articulating trucks, rigid frame trucks, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, pickup trucks, and crew buses. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting in a demanding construction and mining environments. Key Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and electronic system issues using OEM software and diagnostic tools Assist in disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lubrication systems as requested. Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, and powertrain components Conduct field service repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns as required Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs Ensure all work is completed in compliance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and safety regulations Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance field clerks and equipment operators regarding equipment condition and repair timelines Perform risk assessments prior to each task Identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents, and/or near misses. Maintain hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and other policies, procedures, and requirements. Responsible for communicating any information changes to the human resource coordinator (driver''s license, address, etc.) Qualifications/Requirements: Valid Journeyperson/Red Seal certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine management systems Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical bulletins Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems. Valid driver''s license (Class G required; DZ or AZ considered an asset) Ability to work safely and effectively as a team, as well as independently in field and in shop environments. Able to work rotational schedules and campbased assignments. Able to work in extreme outdoor conditions, including weather exposure, vibration, noise, uneven terrain, and varying site environments. Able to spend substantial time in the field, including walking, standing, and navigating uneven ground. Comfortable performing repetitive tasks when required. Able to lift and carry heavy equipment (50100 lbs.) and recognize when assistance is needed. Able to meet all physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, and maintain fitness for duty. Able to follow and model all safety protocols and procedures. Always wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on site Preferred Assets: Experience working in mining or remote construction environments OEM training or certifications (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, John Deere) Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal Contract length: 8 months Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 80 per week Work Location: In person
