Job Description The CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are experiencing a large growth trajectory. Your role will involve shaping complex electrical projects, developing skills, and advancing your career within the organization. We are currently looking for an Electrical Station Engineer. You will provide strong engineering leadership in the design of HV/MV substations for utilities and industrial clients, working with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, and standards. This hybrid position will be based in Vancouver, BC or Edmonton, AB. Primary Responsibilities Lead development of preliminary and detailed design drawings (SLD, general arrangements, elevations, installation details, etc.) for HV and MV substations. Perform and review electrical calculations and equipment sizing for power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, busbars, etc. Perform sizing calculations for power cables and cable tray/trench routing. Prepare technical reports and equipment specifications for procurement. Review manufacturers equipment drawings. Design and calculate AC and DC auxiliary systems, including singleline diagrams, load calculations, distribution drawings, voltagedrop calculations, and battery sizing. Develop schedules and engineering cost estimates for proposals. Produce and review bills of materials. Conduct site visits to validate scope requirements, perform site surveys, consult on construction, and participate in commissioning activities. Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and utilities. Ensure designs conform to all applicable codes, client standards, and CIMAs quality management system. Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders (internal or external). Assist in training junior staff. Perform additional duties and tasks based on project requirements. Collaborate with the clients engineering team on complex or unusual engineering issues, providing solutionsoriented support to manage and mitigate risks. Qualifications 6+ years of experience in electrical layout, preferably with large Canadian utilities. Bachelors degree in electrical engineering (power system specialization preferred). Professional registration with Engineer and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or Alberta (APEGA), or the ability to register. Advanced experience with electrical design for electric utility substations. Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, and Canadian utility standards. Valid Canadian drivers licence. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an asset. Strong problemsolving skills, the ability to work independently and in a team, detailoriented, and selfmotivated. Clientfocused and flexible to respond to shortnotice assignments and project demands.
