Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this role serves as the second-in-command, supporting the Calgary Logistics team to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of both outgoing shipments and incoming materials.The Lead Hand collaborates closely with all business functions to maintain accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in all logistics operations. Key responsibilities include inventory management, coordinating with shipping vendors, and maintaining strong relationships with external partners. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support overall departmental success.ResponsibilitiesOrder Picking/PackingPick, pack and assemble orders in a manner to ensure that product is damage free when delivered to customers in accordance with departmental proceduresEnsure shipments contain proper documentation and item lists are complete by conducting piece counts and weight checksPrepare shipping labels/documentation and verify all shipments are adequately identifiedMaintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulationsShipping and ReceivingPrepare and schedule shipments as assignedCreate a daily shipment scheduleSchedule daily transportation needs with different carriers/couriersOversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries according to established procedures and all correct documentation is completed and presented to the driverPerform quality, condition and quantity audits of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items prior to signing offReport all product damages and discrepancies to Logistics ManagerSort and distribute incoming shipments and ensure they are put away in designated locationsTrack shipments and verify receipt of shipmentsProblem solve for any cases of missing documents, shipments and deliveriesMake deliveries with company vehicle as assignedInventory ControlAssist in weekly inventory cycle counts as required by AGLC personnelIdentify inventory count discrepancies and report to Logistics ManagerTake note of any peculiar or unusual product movement or out of stock situations and inform Logistics Manager of the situationEnsure high standards of warehouse security is maintainedManage inventory of shipping materials and suppliesProcess all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and trackingMaintain filing of shipping documentsFollow all product inventory procedures, including FIFOOtherDevelop and sustain a professional and productive relationship with all customers, carriers, contractors, suppliers, internal departments and key stakeholdersIdentify and inform Logistics Manager of any repairs or maintenance needed on warehouse equipmentEnsure facility housekeeping standards are upheldCommunicate and model the organizations Safety, GMPs, Food Safety, and other company policies, procedures and standards, as well as applicable federal safety standards and local lawsAssist with other responsibilities as assignedQUALIFICATIONSMinimum of 35 years of experience in logistics, shipping, and receiving, with a proven track record of delivering resultsMinimum Grade 12 Diploma or GED equivalent; post-secondary courses in Supply Chain are an assetValid Forklift Operators License required(training available)Valid drivers license with a clean driving recordExperience in the packaged goods industry is an assetPrevious exposure to computerized inventory control systemsSkilled in operating material handling equipment, including forkliftsKnowledgeable in completing waybills, bills of lading, and accurate shipment documentationProficient in weighing, measuring, and safely packaging items for shipmentStrong organizational, time management, and prioritization abilitiesHigh attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of workEffective verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in English requiredComputer literate, with solid working knowledge of Excel and emailBasic mathematical skillsReliable, punctual, and adaptable, with a positive attitude and strong team spiritWorking ConditionsAfternoon ShiftFrequent exposure to various temperaturesPossible exposure to dangerous/hazardous cleaning materialsAble to stand, bend, twist, lift, push and pull as required throughout dayManual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals #J-18808-Ljbffr
