Fraser Health offers opportunities to work in a rapidly growing organization with health professionals who are excellent in their fields, opportunities for career growth and advancement, and the rewarding opportunity to make a difference in health care.ResponsibilitiesConducts and records E.E.G., Nerve Conduction Tests, EMG, and Multiple Sleep Latency Tests on patients, operating and calibrating equipment, taking measurements, and entering results into the computer to determine abnormalities.Conducts Evoked Potential Tests (visual, brainstem, somato-sensory evoked responses) and magnetic stimulation procedures, locating and stimulating nerves, applying recording electrodes, assessing responses, and making necessary equipment adjustments to complete the study.Formulates technical preliminary reports by analyzing recordings, measuring data, describing abnormal manifestations, and forwarding calculations to the physician for clinical diagnosis.Receives and prepares patients for tests by reviewing requisitions and case history, explaining procedures, attaching electrodes to appropriate areas, and monitoring patient comfort to obtain required results.Participates in the departmental infection control program, handling/storing/disposing of needle electrodes and supplies, and disinfecting and sterilizing equipment to safety standards.Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, calibrating and cleaning to ensure accuracy, and maintains service records and coordinates repairs as needed.Maintains EEG records and videotapes for archival reference.Guides the clinical experience of assigned new staff and students, demonstrates procedures and usage of equipment to staff, including residents and students.Supports professional development and team goals, updates knowledge of clinical practice guidelines, and collaborates with supervisors to achieve objectives within set timeframes.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceGraduation with a Diploma of Technology in Electroneurophysiology (British Columbia's Institute of Technology), two years of recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Certification with the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (CBRET) or the Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC).Current membership with the British Columbia Society of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (BCSET) or the Association of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (AETC).Skills And AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of evidence-based electroneurophysiology practice related to conducting various diagnostic tests including EEG, MSL, Evoked Potentials, Nerve Conduction studies, EMG, and MEP.Broad knowledge of electroneurophysiology theory and practice within a client- and family-centered model of care.Safe work procedures with electroneurophysiology equipment.Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Ability to teach and demonstrate procedures; strong communication with co-workers, physicians, staff, clients and families.Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others; establish workload priorities.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position; computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheets and databases.About Fraser HealthFraser Health is the health care provider for a large region of British Columbia, with a commitment to planetary health, diversity, respect, caring and trust in its workforce and practices.Additional InformationImportant: Recruitment scam warning.
