Job Summary The Rock Truck / Packer Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to support water, sewer, and earthworks construction projects. Key duties include transporting and placing fill, compacting soil and backfill, performing daily equipment inspections, and supporting excavation and pipe crews. The role requires safety awareness, reliable equipment operation, and teamwork to ensure quality and productivity on site. We are recruiting for the 2026 season (May through October). Key Responsibilities Safe Vehicle Operation Safely operate Rock Trucks and Packers in compliance with company policies, traffic laws, and safety standards. Adjust driving to suit road, weather, and construction site conditions. Maintain awareness of ground crews, equipment, and utilities while operating on active sites. Equipment & Vehicle Management Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections and complete documentation as required. Monitor vehicle performance and report any mechanical issues or damage immediately. Perform basic cleaning and operator-level maintenance of assigned trucks. Machine Operation Transport, place, and compact fill material in coordination with excavation and pipe crews. Support earthmoving, backfilling, and compaction activities. Monitor loads, dumping areas, and compaction quality to ensure proper compaction and site stability. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including daily toolbox meetings. Use proper PPE and follow site-specific traffic and dumping protocols. Report hazards, near-misses, or unsafe conditions immediately to the Foreman, Site Superintendent, or HSE Manager as appropriate. Teamwork & Communication Communicate effectively with Site Superintendent or Foremen to ensure timely deliveries and support project efficiency. Support excavation and construction activities by responding promptly to material hauling requirements. Qualifications 1 years of experience as a Rock Truck Operator or Packer Operator (sewer and water experience preferred) Familiar with backfilling, hauling, dumping, and compaction procedures Class 5 Driver''s License Proficient in written and verbal English Please note that there is no housing or LOA provided for this position.
