Build the People Engine Behind One of Ontario''s Most Hospitality-Driven Cannabis Retailers The We Store is a fast-growing cannabis retail network with nine locations across Southwestern Ontario (Windsor, Lakeshore, Sarnia, and Chatham-Kent). We are known for redefining cannabis retail through exceptional hospitality, deeply trained staff, curated product selection, and reliable one-hour delivery . We are seeking a Recruitment & Training Manager to design, build, and lead our people development function. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role for an experienced HR, Talent, or Learning professional who wants ownershipnot maintenanceof recruitment, training, culture, and retention systems. This role reports directly into senior leadership and will shape how talent is attracted, developed, retained, and promoted across the organization. Scope of ResponsibilityTalent Acquisition & Workforce Strategy Design and execute a hospitality-first recruitment strategy across all roles: Budtenders, Team Leaders, Store Managers, and Area Managers Build scalable sourcing pipelines, employer branding initiatives, and selection frameworks Develop interview and assessment processes that prioritize attitude, emotional intelligence, and service mindset Partner closely with Store and Area Managers on workforce planning and growth forecasting Own recruitment metrics (time-to-hire, quality-of-hire, retention impact) Learning Management System (LMS) Leadership Lead the implementation and evolution of a digital, gamified LMS Convert existing training manuals into structured, engaging learning pathways Design role-specific development tracks from entry-level to leadership Introduce certifications, milestones, and performance-linked learning outcomes Build dashboards that connect training participation to performance and retention Enable Store Managers and Team Leaders as LMS facilitators Onboarding, Training & Leadership Development Create high-impact onboarding programs that accelerate time-to-productivity Develop training focused on hospitality, active listening, conflict resolution, and personalized service Ensure operational, POS, delivery, inventory, and compliance training is clear and standardized Build leadership development programs for Team Leaders and Store Managers Establish consistent training standards across all locations Retention, Engagement & Career Pathing Design and execute retention strategies that reduce frontline and leadership turnover Implement stay interviews, exit interviews, and engagement diagnostics Build transparent career pathways across retail and leadership roles Create recognition, mentorship, and peer-support programs Partner with leadership to address cultural friction, burnout risks, and operational stressors Use data to continuously refine engagement and retention initiatives Culture & Strategic Partnership Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on people, culture, and growth Lead cultural onboarding and immersion sessions Develop feedback loops and pulse surveys Support employer branding initiatives with marketing and leadership teams Ensure compliance with Ontario employment standards and cannabis regulations What We''re Looking ForExperience & Background 57+ years in Recruitment, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, or HR leadership Proven experience building systems , not just operating them Hands-on experience implementing or managing an LMS Background in retail, hospitality, or multi-site environments strongly preferred Demonstrated success improving retention and engagement Skills & Capabilities Strategic workforce planning and data-driven decision-making Strong command of ATS, HRIS, and LMS platforms Comfortable translating culture and values into scalable processes Excellent communication skillswritten, verbal, and interpersonal High organizational discipline and ability to manage multiple initiatives Leadership & Personal Attributes High empathy and genuine commitment to employee growth Confident working with senior leaders and frontline teams alike Hands-on, accountable, and comfortable in a fast-growth environment Passion for hospitality, customer experience, and culture building Integrity, discretion, and sound judgment Cannabis Industry Perspective Respect for cannabis as a legitimate consumer category Understanding of retail cannabis dynamics (or strong learning orientation) Commitment to de-stigmatizing cannabis retail through professionalism and service excellence Preferred (Not Required) Cannabis retail or adjacent industry experience HR or L&D certifications (CHRP, SHRM, etc.) Experience with gamified learning environments Multi-location retail experience Knowledge of Ontario employment law English language Competency level : Advanced Location & Work Structure Based in Windsor, Ontario Regular presence across store locations Full-time, leadership role with growth runway Ready to Build Something That Matters?
