RVA is looking for an Engineering Designer to join their Transportation team in a full-time permanent position. Responsibilities Assist in preparing designs for transportation projects, including roads, rail, storm / sanitary sewers, watermains and other infrastructure. Draft transportation plans, sections, and details for transportation construction drawings. Design and edit drawings in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads as required. Identify property and utility relocation requirements for construction. Work closely with project managers, senior and intermediate engineers, and other members of the team to help develop designs, reports, contract documentation and provide support as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned/required and appropriate to this position. May be required to work on site for periods of time as a Site Inspector during construction season(s), under the supervision of a Contract Administrator. Qualifications A bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university is a must. 0-5 years engineering experience is preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply. Possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients. Experience or aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development and other skills appropriate to consulting engineering. Proven capabilities in writing reports and other technical documents. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment. Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written. Ability to provide personal transportation to site, if necessary or as needed.
