Position Title Director of Financial Planning and Analysis Location Acheson, Alberta Position Type Full-Time, Permanent (Salary) Position Logistics In office/Hybrid Department Finance Reports Directly To Executive Director, Corporate Services Salary $110,000 - $150,000 Start Date March 2026 or sooner if available About the Organization Associated Ambulance is Canadas largest private EMS operator, providing Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and InterFacility Transfer Services to 22 rural and 2 metro locations across Alberta. With over 40 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services, we serve community health needs with dedication and expertise. Role Overview The newly created strategic finance leader will drive the organizations financial forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis. This critical role aligns finances with business objectives, guiding company strategy and ensuring sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities Act as a finance business partner to department and operational leaders, analyzing and translating financial data into actionable business insights. Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and performance commentary related to operational performance and set KPIs. Manage the preparation of financial forecasts and capital budgets in alignment with corporate and business planning cycles. Monitor, record, report and interpret financial information with the ability to interpret and apply the Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) for financial statement preparation. Lead the development of annual budgets and longrange financial forecasting processes. Conduct scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the impact of policy changes, industry trends, and macroeconomic shifts. Oversee the preparation of materials for and actively participate in meetings with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and the Board of Directors. Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders to anticipate operational and economic changes. Lead meetings and presentations with internal Business Planning teams and Senior Leadership to communicate deliverables and results. Serve as the companys subject matter expert in planning and budgeting, implementing best practices and providing ongoing analysis of business performance. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals to maximize accounts receivable success and the timely processing of accounts payables. Develop policies and procedures to ensure strong financial controls within the organization that align with the Board expectations. First Year Deliverables Develop strong working relationships with the Senior Leadership Team, Executive Leadership Team, the Finance Department, and external stakeholders. Review current financial processes and provide recommendations for efficiencies. Identify and implement a cloud-based accounting system that achieves alignment with all key departments within the organization. Develop a robust budgeting process that aligns with the organizations business planning processes. Develop a consistent monthly, quarterly, annual and adhoc financial reporting process with forecasting models and variance analysis. Qualifications & Experience University degree in Commerce, Accounting or related field such as Business (or other related program), plus a minimum of five (5) years experience. A Canadian accounting designation Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). Indepth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, application of the Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and preparation of financial statements. Strong skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Experience with internal controls and process development. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
