Position Overview As the Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of structural steel projects and for providing mentorship and guidance to Engineers and EngineersinTraining (EITs). Key Responsibilities Lead the structural design process, including connection design, and oversee the preparation and review of drawings for new construction and renovation projects, ensuring expertise in construction methods and Marids preferred fabrication and erection techniques to deliver highquality, efficient solutions. Plan and design designbuild projects, including preliminary designs, and support the estimating team with accurate, detailed estimates. Ensure that shop and erection drawings meet client requirements, align with contract documents and industry standards, and represent the most economical approach. Review, update, and maintain standard details and designs as needed, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Coordinate effectively with Project Managers, clients consultants, Detailers, and Construction Managers to achieve project goals. Collaborate with clients and the engineering team, conducting research and analysis to determine project requirements during all design phases. Support the fabrication and erection teams by troubleshooting and resolving designrelated challenges. Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to Junior Engineers and Detailers. Education Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience) from a recognized institution. Experience & Skills Minimum 4 years of experience in the design of steel structures. Expertise in designing steel structures and their welded and bolted connections. Proficiency in interpreting construction, erection, and shop drawings with strong attention to detail. Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Tekla, and/or structural analysis software is an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications with clarity. Strong problemsolving skills, including the ability to address challenges with innovative, practical solutions. Comfort with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, areas, and volumes, and their practical application. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholders.Familiarity with industry standards (CISC and AISC) is required. Knowledge of National and Provincial Building Codes is an asset. Registration as (or eligibility for) a P.Eng. designation in Nova Scotia.
