Our client is a dynamic trucking company specializing in freight transportation and logistics services across North America. With a focus on efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction, they are seeking a skilled Accountant to support their financial operations on a contract basis. Position Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our client''s team on a 6-12 month contract (with potential for extension). In this role, you will handle various accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational support. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong accounting expertise, and prior experience in the trucking or logistics industry would be a valuable asset. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations. Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation and variance analysis. Manage payroll processing, tax filings, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GAAP, IRS requirements). Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis specific to trucking operations, such as fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and fleet management. Collaborate with internal teams to audit financial data, resolve discrepancies, and implement process improvements. Generate reports and provide insights to management on financial performance and trends. Handle ad-hoc accounting projects as needed to support business growth. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. 3+ years of experience in accounting roles, with proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar). Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office suite tools. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Preferred Skills and Experience Previous experience in the trucking, transportation, or logistics industry is a significant asset. Familiarity with industry-specific financial challenges, such as managing variable costs, inventory tracking for parts and equipment, or regulatory reporting for transportation.
