Description This posting This posting will be used to fill 3 Term full-time position (until March 31, 2027) working 75 bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions. This job is based in Pelly Crossing, Faro, and Ross River in the beautiful Yukon. Who we are Yukon''s Department of Health and Social Services aims to promote, protect, and enhance the well-being of Yukon people through a continuum of quality, accessible, and appropriate health and social services. The Family and Children''s Services Branch is responsible for territory wide delivery of child protection services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth and their families. The unit responds to complex and crisis situations and works with families to ensure continued safety and well-being of children. Collaborative working relationships with Yukon First Nations and Indigenous Governing bodies are critical in this work.This unit also provides on-call services 24/7 to ensure that a response to concerns of child harm is available, at any time, every day of the year. This opportunity The Social Service Worker in communities will provide social work services to individuals, families and communities across the life cycle. The position ensures service delivery is consistent with the legislative framework, delegated authorities, departmental values, principles, standards and procedures. The purpose of this position is to provide limited social work delivery in the absence of the delegated Social Worker. Undergraduate (Bachelor) degree in the social sciences from an accredited university with preference for a degree in the human services field. Experience working with children, youth and/or families involved with the child welfare is preferred. NOTE: If your undergraduate (Bachelor) degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through any members of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC). Candidates who are currently students in a Bachelor of Social Work program, who can demonstrate the essential qualifications through internships, practicums, cooperative and voluntary placements, and that have verification of graduation in 2026 may be considered. Desired knowledge, skills and suitability If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following: Demonstrated interest in Whitehorse Yukon social work Ability to work in a multicultural environment with an emphasis on Yukon First Nation''s culture Strong knowledge and experience in social work principles and practices in child welfare and case management Demonstrated interest in child and family services including child protection and working with children in out of home care. Travel is required. Provide coverage for other workers as needed. Frequent evening, weekend and statutory holiday work hours are required; and, Occasional involvement in situations involving angry, abusive or abused clients.
