The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Market Fundamentals Analyst to join ARCs Financial Risk Management team. This team is responsible for the development of commodity market fundamental views as well as the execution and day-to-day management of ARCs hedging positions. The successful candidate will play a major role in forming and disseminating ARCs commodity price outlook that is used to support commercial and risk management decisions across the organization. ARC is a leader in Risk Management and crucial to the teams success is working closely with other groups including but not limited to Marketing, Treasury, Investor Relations, Financial Reporting and Planning. Please note that the role title can be adapted for a more senior candidate if suitable. Responsibilities Develop and maintain models that track and forecast North American and global natural gas supply, demand, flows and inventories. Monitor, evaluate and forecast changes to balances on an ongoing basis. Develop a market view that identifies risks and opportunities to ARCs natural gas price exposures Review research from external sources to supplement internally derived views. Maintain an understanding of the varying assumptions and differences amongst third party views on commodity prices Communicate outlook to varying internal audiences including Treasury, Marketing, Investor Relations and senior management Use market view to make recommendations for ARCs hedging program including new positions or restructurings of existing positions Assist in the execution of ARCs hedging program, ensuring competitive pricing from counterparties and adherence to ARCs internal controls Collaborate in the preparation of market reports for weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings as well as special topic reports based on ARC-specific or broader market developments Leverage existing relationships and develop a strong industry network to further advance ARCs corporate knowledge of market fundamentals, dynamics, and developments What You Will Bring To ARC The ideal candidate should possess 5 or more years experience in a role focused on natural gas market analysis. The successful candidate will also possess the following key attributes: A bachelors degree in Commerce, Finance, or Economics is preferred and completion or progress towards a CFA designation is an asset A deep understanding of the fundamental dynamics that drive commodity prices and risks. Preference will be given to candidates with experience modelling WCSB, Pacific Northwest and Midwest natural gas markets.
