The Island Crisis Care Society is looking for their next Executive Director . Were a registered non-profit with operations in Nanaimo & Parksville. We provide crucial housing and outreach programs to stabilize people in crisis, guiding them towards recovery and wellness. Our approach emphasizes empathy, security, and structured support, empowering clients to set and achieve goals for independence and connection. At ICCS, we offer a professional, compassionate response to help individuals move from crisis to security. About the role As the new Executive Director, this role will lead the Society as a whole as it continues to grow its ability to assist an ever-growing number of clients. The ideal candidate will be someone who is or has led in the non-profit sector with a clear track record of success delivering on a societys mission, vision and values, as well as driving organization goals and overall growth. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will maximize the Executive and Management teams talents to establish a legacy of fulfilling the societys essential functions including reaching its overall purposes and goals. However, youre also willing to rethink systems and processes and craft creative but practical solutions for an ever-changing community needs. Over your years of lived experience, you have developed a values-driven lens to leadership with a strong commitment to dignity, harm reduction, inclusion and trauma informed practices. The ideal candidate is a natural connection-maker who clearly understands the Societys mission, vision and values and can articulate the vision in a meaningful way to all stakeholders. You believe in the power of relationships and find satisfaction in establishing and nurturing relationships with partner agencies and government entities. Driven by the Boards goals and objectives, you will be responsible for developing and executing the overall strategic organizational plan. This role is an opportunity for you to lead ICCS into its next era of success through your community expertise, clear vision, and thoughtful leadership. This is a permanent and in-office role in Nanaimo, BC. Compensation $115,000-$133,000 annually, based on education and experience 100% employer paid health, dental & vision benefits, and a health spending account Membership in the defined benefit Municipal Pension Plan, with employer contribution Moving package for relocations of over 100 km Support for your professional designation & development Paid vacation Flexibility in work hours or work week we recognize your life outside of the office Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Risk Management Provide strategic leadership aligned with the Boards goals and the organizations mission, values, and strategic plan Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic priorities and annual operating plans Monitor emerging trends, community needs, and policy changes relevant to the organizations mandate Identify and manage organizational risks, including financial, operational, and reputational risks Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation, including employment standards and charitable regulations Governance & Board Relations Work in close partnership with the Board of Directors to support effective governance and decision-making Prepare materials and reports for Board and committee meetings as required Financial Management & Community Engagement Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure accurate and up-to-date fiscal accountability Ensure compliance with funder, regulatory, legal and any regulatory-body requirements Identify and lead business development efforts, including grants, government funding, fundraising, sponsorships, and partnerships Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of the organization Build strong relationships with all stakeholders, including internal and external Advocate for the organizations mission and the communities it serves at local, regional, and provincial levels Fundraising & Resource Development Actively participate in donor relations, funder engagement, and stewardship activities as required Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, foundations and community partners Support and collaborate with staff and volunteers involved in fundraising initiatives Operations, People & Leadership Provide oversight of programs and services to ensure quality, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals Ensure systems, policies, and procedures support efficient and ethical operations and make recommendations for any changes as required Monitor outcomes and impact, using available data to inform improvement Lead, mentor, and actively support Executive, Management and Staff, including unionized staff Oversee recruitment, performance management, professional development, and succession planning of the team Were Looking For Related Bachelors or graduate degree is preferred; however, it is recognised that this role may bring a mix of education and/or lived experience 10+ years previous experience working in a non-profit environment with at least 5+ years experience in senior leadership role Previous training and/or experience in HR Management, Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention, Christian Studies or Theology will be considered an asset Previous working experience in a unionized environment or supporting unionized employees and contracts will be considered an asset Comfortable engaging with churches, faith leaders, and donors, and speaking about the organizations mission through its Christian worldview How to Apply Please send your resume and cover letter with the subject line Executive Director - Island Crisis Care Society to [email protected].
