We are a community-based, not-for-profit organization offering high-quality recreational and competitive gymnastics programming in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.What truly sets our club apart is our people. Many of our coaches and staff grew up as athletes within the club and returned yearssometimes decadeslater to build careers here. This continuity has created a strong culture rooted in pride, accountability, and care for the athletes and families we serve. That culture is supported by thoughtful governance and sound financial stewardship, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization.As we look ahead, we are seeking an Executive Director who will honour this legacy while guiding the club confidently into its next chapter.The OpportunityThe Executive Director (ED) is the senior administrative leader of the organization, responsible for people leadership, operational excellence, and financial sustainability. Working in close partnership with a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors, the ED ensures the club is well-governed, fiscally responsible, and aligned with its mission and values.The ED provides leadership and oversight for approximately 40 staff members, including full-time and part-time employees, and works closely with senior coaches and program leads. This role is ideal for a leader who values strong relationships and strong systemssomeone who understands that a healthy culture and disciplined financial management go hand in hand.The successful candidate will be supported by an engaged volunteer Board and a committed staff team with deep roots in the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Leadership & People ManagementProvide strategic and operational leadership aligned with the clubs mission, vision, and valuesOversee day-to-day operations of the gymnastics facility and programmingLead staff and coach recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retentionEstablish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards across the organizationFoster a professional, inclusive, and respectful workplace cultureGovernance & Board RelationsWork collaboratively with the volunteer Board of Directors to support effective governance and informed decision-makingPrepare clear, accurate, and timely reports, analysis, and recommendations for Board meetingsSupport policy development, risk management, and long-term strategic planningEnsure compliance with bylaws, legal requirements, and not-for-profit best practicesOperations & AdministrationOversee registration systems, scheduling, customer service standards, and internal communicationsManage facility maintenance, and vendor relationships with attention to service quality and cost controlMaintain and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including Safe Sport complianceFinancial Oversight & SustainabilityPrepare, manage, and monitor the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board TreasurerEnsure strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and effective cash-flow managementMonitor financial performance and identify risks, trends, and opportunitiesSupport grant applications, sponsorships, and revenue-generating initiatives aligned with the clubs values and capacityProgram & Event LeadershipSupport coaches and program leads in delivering high-quality, sustainable programmingLead the planning and execution of major club events, including the annual invitational competitionEnsure programs meet Gymnastics Canada and Gymnastics Alberta standardsStakeholder & Community RelationsBuild positive relationships with athletes, families, staff, community partners, and sport organizationsServe as the primary spokesperson and public representative of the clubRespond to member feedback and concerns with professionalism, transparency, and consistencyQualifications & ExperienceRequiredMinimum 35 years of senior leadership experience with operational and financial responsibility Proven experience leading and/or supervising a direct team.Experience working in a not-for-profit organization or applicable industry experience.Experience reporting to or working with a volunteer Board of DirectorsPost-secondary education in a relevant field (degree or diploma), or equivalent combination of education, training, and progressive leadership experience appropriate to the scope of the roleStrong AssetsExperience in sport, recreation, fitness, or gymnastics environmentsCPHR designationNCCP Safe Sport TrainingSkills & CompetenciesProven ability to lead people while maintaining strong systems, controls, and accountabilitySound financial literacy, including budgeting, reporting, and financial analysisStrong time managementAbility to manage competing demandsStrong Excel and budgeting skills are essentialExcellent communication, judgment, and conflict-resolution skillsAbility to balance community values with fiscal discipline and operational realitiesProficiency with office software and club management systems (e.g., Uplifter, Google Workspace).Understanding of Safe Sport principles and child protection best practicesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary of $90,000 $110,000, commensurate with experience and qualificationsAdditional benefits and overall competitive total rewards.Professional development and leadership growth opportunitiesHow to ApplyPlease submit a resume and cover letter to: [email protected] Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the position will remain open until a successful candidate is found.We thank all candidates for their interest.
