Horticultural Therapist - Independent Contractor The Village of Riverside Glen located in Guelph, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for an Independent Contractor Horticultural Therapist to join their team. Hours: 68 hours monthly Qualifications: Be enrolled in or completed a Degree in Horticulture Therapy or equivalent Completed the required 480 hours of internship Be an eligible member of the Canadian Horticulture Therapy Association Be excited by our objectives, our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members Previous experience working with seniors is an asset Knowledge of therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve residents wellbeing and holistic health An understanding of the relevant sections of the LongTerm Care Homes Act, 2007 Responsibilities: Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and deliver high quality recreational programming to residents. Work as a key member of the Village and neighborhood multidisciplinary team to understand residents individual needs and advocate for resident participation in care decisions. Plan gardeningbased activities, on a persession basis or incorporated into a larger curriculum, providing handson experiences such as planting seeds and caring for plants indoors and outdoors. Collaborate with the Recreation Team to support residents in learning, growing, and finding life purpose and meaning. Plan and implement programs that contribute to residents holistic health care goals, encouraging physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cognitive growth, as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS-Raps, Coding and Activities Initial Assessment).
