DNV Energy Systems'''' group has an exciting opportunity for a Power System Study Engineer in its Renewables & Power Grids service area. Our team provides creative, cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in the power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The Engineer must demonstrate vision and drive and be passionate about contributing to the growth of the Power Systems Advisory business in North America. What You''''ll Do Perform electrical System Impact Studies such as Steady State, Dynamic and Transient Stability analyses for generation, large load interconnections in PSS/E Perform Short Circuit studies in ASPEN Perform Voltage ride through (VRT) tests, dynamic model quality tests, model benchmarking Perform transmission planning & compliance assessments for bulk electric power system in PSS/E Produce and/or review technical reports and presentations for external Customers Timely completion of projects assigned while meeting project quality and project budget Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance the efficiency, speed and accuracy of technical simulations Stay up to date with relevant NERC, ISO/RTO planning procedures, policy changes and developments Contribute to the team''''s research and innovation activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team''''s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements Cultivate customer relationships, technical advisory support for generations, and large load interconnections connecting to transmission system This role is based at our DNV office in Toronto (ON) or Montreal (QB) presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process. The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within Canada. About you What is Required Bachelor''''s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on electric power systems Minimum 2 + years of direct working experience to include transmission planning, expansion, generation and/or large load interconnection related analyses, NERC reliability standards such as TPL/MOD/CIP Minimum 2 + years of hands-on experience with power-system tools such as PSS/E In-depth understanding of fundamentals of electric power systems and renewable energy Strong organizational, interpersonal (written & verbal) skills, problem solving and analytical skills Ability to work in a dynamic team environment Strong written and verbal English communication skills (The employee would be required to draft and review internal documents in English to be used throughout North America) We conduct pre-employment background screening Considering that this position requires English proficiency, the recruitment process will be conducted in English. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
