We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Transmission Sustainment Capital Planning, who brings both deep technicalexpertiseandan ability toinfluence across multidisciplinary teams. In addition to developing,maintainingand improving EPC''s transmission asset replacement programs, this person will work across a wide range of internal and external partners to advance capital planning priorities. The ideal candidate is aself-starterwith the confidence to propose creative solutions, the agility to adapt as priorities shift, and the willingness to learn and share ideas openly. They will navigate complex situations with sound judgment, collaborate effectively across varied disciplines, and influence stakeholders through clear communication and professionalism. Major Responsibilities: Create and approve strategic transmission asset strategies, asset management plans, project executionplansand business cases for EPC transmission assets (e.g., substations, transmission lines, and associated equipment) Develop decision parameters that enable consistent and prudent risk-based management of utility assets (i.e., replacement, rejuvenation, refurbishment, or repair). Evaluate benefits and risks of proposed technical solutions and provide innovative recommendations of alternate solutions asrequired Prepare and defend capital justifications through analytical evaluations to obtain regulatory approval for asset-driven capital infrastructure replacement or modification projects Project and program ownership duties for transmission capital projects and programs, including providing direct support on projects Provide technical support for regulatory applications, including being a witness, for regulatory hearings Contribute to the development and execution of the transmission integrated plan, including the advancement of capital initiatives in alignment with the businessobjectivesfrom project initiation through to completion Coordinate, support, and undertake in the preparation of annual asset replacement capital plans and budgets to ensure the proposed plans align with and support the corporate objectives Accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of process maps, standards, procedures, guidelines, and other business documentation to improve andoptimizethe execution and governance of asset replacement capital programs and projects Review existing processes and work with other groups to implement efficiency improvements in the execution and governance of capital programs and projects Maintain strong relationships withinternal andexternal parties including regulatory bodies to integrate sound asset management practices and innovation Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and peers throughsharing oftechnical knowledge andexpertise. Education Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Civil or a relatedfield ofEngineering P.Engor P.L.(Eng)status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) Qualifications & Experience: Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience Previousexperience developing strategies, creating executionplansand writing business cases for capital projects Experience in transmission asset management including life-cycle principles, conditionassessmentand risk analysis Background in technical evaluation,designand construction with Transmission utility assets including substations and transmission lines Understanding of industry standards (CSA, IEEE, IEC etc.)pertaining tothe design and testing of equipment and materials Competencies: Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to guide technical work and support team effectiveness. Skilled in navigating complex situations through effective negotiation, conflict management, and sound judgment. Demonstrated agility and initiative,operatingeffectively in shifting priorities and ambiguous situations. Advanced analytical andproblemsolvingskills with the confidence to explore innovative or unconventional technical solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across varied disciplines and build alignment among multiple stakeholders. Ability to apply business acumen when making technical decisions, ensuring alignment with financialobjectivesand overall business value.
