Essential Functions HighQualityProgramsandLearningEnvironment: Ensure thelearningenvironment offersearlylearners asense ofwelcome and belonging, where they can make decisions and develop socially and emotionally. Coach,modeland provide trainingrelated to earlyliteracy and numeracy skills, including phonological awareness and concepts of number and print. Provide educators with clear expectations, including the implementation of ''How Does Learning Happen? Ontario''s Pedagogy for the Early Years''; ''HighScope Curriculum''; and the Quality Improvement Project andOverseeresource-supportsprovidedforstudentswithspecialneeds. Supporttheintegration ofAnishinaabekcultureandlanguagethroughout theprogram,to buildchildren''s sense ofidentity andprideintheir ancestry. Ensurethateducators usestrategies whichpromoteacalm, welcoming,engagingandrespectful classroom environment. Addresseducatorconflicts inanimmediate,supportiveandproactivemanner. Collaboratewitheducatorstoprovideinputtoquarterlyandannualreports(i.e.,activitiesrelatedto culturallearningandearlyliteracy/numeracyskilldevelopment.) StaffRecruitment,TrainingandSupervision Collaborate with theSupervisor and HR manager forthe recruitment and hiring ofeducator-staff(e.g., input to job postings, job descriptions, interview questions). Conductperformance appraisals forclassroom educators, educatorassistantsandresourceeducators. Shareobservations, constructivefeedbackandpositive reinforcement to staffregardingprogram implementation and the classroom environment. Coordinatestafflearningrelatedto programand learningthe environment. Informstaffofconferencesandlearningopportunitiesrelatedtotheirwork. Ensurethatclassroomeducators(ECEs) andsupportstaff(EA''s)followchildcareandMFNpolicies/procedures andadhere to theCollege ofECEs Code ofEthicsandStandardsofPractice. AdministrativeDuties: Collaborate withandwork underthedirectionoftheChildcare Supervisor to: Ensurethatthecentreismanagedin aneffectiveandpositivemanner.Review, develop andimplement childcare policies andparent/staff handbooks.Ensureministrylicensingrequirements areunderstoodandfollowed. Schedulestaffmeetings,prepareagendasandschedulePDsessions. ContributeinformationrequiredforreportingtotheMinistryorChiefandCouncil. PreparetheannualcalendarforapprovalbyChiefandCouncil. Welcome andintroduce ECE students atcentrefor fieldplacements. Order learning materials and resources. Attend Chief and Council meetings and Education Dept. meetings as neededAttendtraining and workshopsrelated to high quality childcare programming. Support theSupervisor toprepareSerious IncidentReports andfollow-up reports (e.g.,to KinaGbezhgomiChild & Family Services, the Ministry ofEducation and College ofEarly Childhood Educators)as well as briefing notesregardingthe incident. Health andSafety CollaboratewithandworkunderthedirectionoftheChildcareSupervisorto: Ensurethatallstaffunderstandtheirdutytoreportchildabusetoproperauthorities.Respond toserious accidents orillnesses, obtaining medicalassistance, notifyingtheparent/guardian ofthe child, and transporting to the hospital ifwarranted. Meethealth&medicalsupervisionrequirementsandadministerFirstAidasneeded. Have anup-to-date list of addresses andtelephone numbers of staffmembers, substitute staff,medicalofficerofhealth,aphysician,ambulance,hospital,firedepartment,policedepartment and other emergency information. Supporttheadministrationofmedicationsasneeded. CommunicationwithParents/GuardiansandCommunityMembers Supporteducation staff in the appropriateuse ofwritten,verbaland digital communicationwith parents and monitor communicationon a regular basis toensure consistency of use. Address within 24 hours, parent/staff concerns related to education staff, program and/or learning environment. Meetwithparents/guardiansasneeded,todiscusstheirchild''slearningneeds. Ensure parentmessages concerning their child areprovidedto the child''s educator(s)andposted on message board. FacilitatethesubmissionofarticlesfortheM''Chigeengnewslettertopromotethechildcarecentreand provide information to parents/guardians/community. Qualifications and Requirements Early Childhood Education Diploma or qualifications and work experience in a related field An understanding of Ministry of Education licensing requirements for childcare centres Experience working in a Childcare setting Valid First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain. A caring and compassionate approach with children, staff, parents and caregivers Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively individually and within a team environment. Clear Vulnerable Sector Check upon successful selection for the position Proof of up-to-date Immunizations, and completion of a health assessment. Other Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture, history, and language or the willingness to learn.
