Summary: We are seeking an experienced, proficient and detail-oriented Engineering Technologist to support our team. The ideal candidate understands steel fabrication, works proficiently in Solidworks, and can communicate effectively with production, project management, and quality teams. Key Responsibilities: Produce detailed shop, assembly and part drawings for custom steel fabrications Develop cut lists, BOMs and material take-offs Revise drawings based on RFI (Request For Information) responses, field changes and shop feedback Ensure drawings align with applicable standards, specifications and customer requirements Support laser table, press brake and automation initiatives Clarify drawings and resolve fabrication questions during production- position acts as a technical bridge between engineering and shop floor Support nesting, part identification and fabrication sequencing Assist with optimizing designs for manufacturability and efficiency Work closely with project managers to support schedules and priorities Track drawing status and revisions Assist with document control and drawing packages for fabrication and quality control Ensure drawings meet customer workmanship standards and internal quality requirements Support inspection plans, weld details and tolerances Assist with as-built documentation when required Create Solidworks parametric models of common parts with varying sizes Create Solidworks models from 2D drawings and evaluate/revise for manufacturability Design jigs and fixtures to support production and quality needs Qualifications: Diploma/Degree/Certification in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Structural or similar) Minimum of 5+ years experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing or industrial construction *THIS IS REQUIRED* Minimum of 5+ years experience using Solidworks *THIS IS REQUIRED* Solid understanding of: o Structural steel components o Weld symbols & fabrication practices; o Steel plate/shapes/assemblies/tolerance o Solidworks sheet metal module and flat pattern creation & development Preferred Assets: o Experience with custom fabrications o Familiarity with nesting software or CNC cutting workflows o Experience working directly with shop personnel o Exposure to ISO9001 or quality-controlled environments Skilled & Traits Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Practical problem-solving mindset Comfortable in a fast-paced, job-shop environment Strong communication skills able to explain drawings clearly Willing to learn and improve processes Application Process: We appreciate your interest in joining our team.
