Description Financial Reporting Operations within VP Finance is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Financial Administrator. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Financial Administrator responds to unique financial reporting requests from numerous units across campus and will have daily interactions with internal stakeholders. The position requires understanding of accounting principles as they relate to recording of financial transactions. The incumbent is responsible for the review and initiation or approval of journal entries, requiring professional judgement and integrity. The Financial Administrator will provide advice and instruction and respond to requests for information from departments and units across the institution. They will liaise with Financial Reporting staff to ensure university financial reporting requirements are understood and work is consistently performed in such a way as to support accurate, timely and meaningful reporting while also contributing to the ongoing process improvement of the university''s financial systems and processes. Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Requires understanding of accounting principles as they relate to recording of financial transactions. Generate, review and approve journal entries related to payroll and benefits. Perform thorough analysis and review of transactional data to support accurate and up to date financial records. Provide guidance to journal initiators and journal requestors in order to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. Liaise with Financial Reporting staff to ensure university financial reporting requirements are understood and work is consistently performed in such a way as to support accurate, timely and meaningful reporting. Contribute to ongoing process improvement of the university''s financial systems and processes. Complete special projects as required, report on findings, prepare recommendations and monitor outcomes. Effective co-ordination of workflow. Able to quickly adapt and respond to changing priorities. Collection and maintenance of documentation ensuring it is well organized and readily available for retrieval. Maintains confidentiality and deals with sensitive information in a professional manner. Implementation of and adherence to internal controls. Qualifications / Requirements: A post-secondary credential (certificate, diploma, degree) in a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a bachelor''s degree 4 to 5 years of work experience in a computerized accounting environment. Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably in a post-secondary, client service, fees, or accounts position. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), internet browsers, and web-based portals. Ability to readily learn & adapt to new technologies is required. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and eFin would be considered an asset. Demonstrated flexibility to deal with constant change and a willingness to innovate and participate in change initiatives. Proven organizational and time management skills with strict attention to accuracy and detail. An ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a positive manner in a fast-paced, dynamic, open office environment. Ability to function effectively in team situations both within and across departments.
