Job Description

Practice Details: Step into a world where your medical skills truly matter, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH), located in the heart-stirring surroundings of North Okanagan. Join a group of enthusiastic and skilled professionals dedicated to delivering top-notch healthcare. This role is not just a job; it''s a chance to thrive in a hospitalist position that offers both diversity and challenges in patient care, without the responsibilities of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, or ICU/code blue scenarios. At VJH, your role is crucial. You will manage general medical care for adults and collaborate on surgical and psychiatric cases, enriching the depth and variety of your daily responsibilities. Day shifts run from 08:00 to approximately 17:00, and you will typically care for 1518 patients. Your expertise in navigating complex patient situations is highly valued as you work alongside specialists in Anesthesia, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and more. For cases requiring advanced treatment, you will coordinate with tertiary care in Kelowna to ensure patients receive the best possible care. Our team of hospitalists benefits from a dedicated network of allied healthcare professionals, offering comprehensive support to make sure every patient receives the care they need precisely when they need it. Your communication skills will shine as you collaborate with discharge planners, community resources, and family physicians to ensure seamless transitions and continual care. Are you interested in practicing at VJH, but prefer part-time hours? We value flexibility and work-life balance Whether you''re looking for part-time hospitalist work or locum opportunities, we warmly welcome your interest. Your expertise is vital - even on a part-time or locum basis. At VJH, our commitment to education and team building is a source of pride. Engage with learners from UBC-Okanagan''s medical undergraduate and family residency programs, where you have the chance to mentor and influence the next generation of healthcare professionals through immersive clinical teaching. Our hospitalist team also includes the support of Nurse Practitioners and Associate Physicians for those interested in additional coaching opportunities. Your involvement doesn''t stop at education; we are deeply committed to enhancing Physician Quality Improvement (PQI) projects, where your insights help drive innovation and effective change, fostering an environment ripe for continuous advancement. Our team''s spirit is built on the pillars of efficiency, adaptability, integrity, humour, and harmony. We are looking for someone whose dedication to impactful and compassionate care matches ours.
